MUGHAL INDIA: ART, CULTURE AND EMPIRE9 NOVEMBER 2012 - 2 APRIL 2013
This autumn, the British Library will present a major exhibition on the Mughal Empire, a vast and important empire that encompassed the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia and parts of the Middle East from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Jewel-like paintings, fascinating manuscripts and amazing objects will reveal the dramatic stories behind one of the world’s great civilisations.

Free Primary workshops: Discover mystical stories and play with patterns inspired by India and the Mughal Empire.
Free Secondary workshops will support the History curriculum and provide an excellent contextual introduction for the study of the rise of the British Empire in India.
CPD Conference for TeachersChanging School Historywill take place on Saturday 24 November 2012 in partnership with the Schools History Project.
WRITING LONDON18 JULY - 25 SEPTEMBER 2012
Writing London is an exhibition of photographs and creative writing by young people from the Foyer Federation, an organisation which provides supported housing for young people.

Inspired by the British Library’s Writing Britainexhibition, the young people present their own unique view on London life. The project is generously funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

WONDERLANDS: A FESTIVAL OF INTERNATIONAL WRITING FOR CHILDREN24 - 26 AUGUST 2012
Get set for an exciting three days of stories, words, drawings, conversations and explorations as some of the planet’s most brilliant writers for children appear at the British Library. Joining guests from the four corners of the world will be some of our best-loved British authors, including Michael Rosen, Michael Morpurgo, Julia Donaldson and Emily Gravett.

Aimed at families with children aged 5 years and upwards.

WONDERLANDS: CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION
We have teamed up with the Booktrust for a special creative writing competition. To enter the competition and be in with a chance to read your work at the Wonderlands Festival, young people aged 6-16 years are invited to write 100-150 words around the theme of ‘my favourite place’.
