Synopsis
Two fairy stories flittering between make-believe, dream lands, and stark human realities, these musical tales form two thirds of Tchaikovsky’s trilogy. Sleeping Beauty follows the well-known trials of Aurora, cursed at birth and plagued by an evil witch with dark intentions, and the plight of a kingdom plunged in to a hundred-year sleep. The Nutcracker keeps things festive with a tale of Christmas Eve adventures and a glimpse in to the world of dancing flowers, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and life-sized living toys, all set to the score of a child’s imagination.

About The Event
On a fleeting bound to the UK, the Peter Schaufuss Ballet company are bringing Tchaikovsky’s most famous works to the London stage. The Olivier Award winning director and choreographer strives to bring the 1890 and 1892 masterworks in to the 21st century, using traditional dance merged with bites of video technology. Already established as a timeless captor of imaginations, and creeping in to popular culture, the trilogy now sprinkles its fairy dust across the elegant stage of The London Coliseum.

The Venue
As the largest theatre in London, this huge 1904 performance space inspires awe with a stage surrounded by intricate carvings, exciting visual appetites before music starts. The culturally pecking can perch in top price seating in the stalls or dress circle, or keep an eye on proceedings from the upper circle above. 7.30pm showings provide an artsy end to the day, while the option of a 3pm Wednesday matinee showing of The Nutcracker keeps all moves bedtime-friendly.
