Portrait of Elizabeth I keeping the peace turns up at house clearance - News - London Evening Standard: "A postcard-sized portrait of Elizabeth I discovered in a house clearance has been bought by the National Portrait Gallery.
It will now go on display this autumn in a new exhibition exploring the rise of new social classes during Elizabeth’s 45-year reign, which ended in 1603.
Dr Tarnya Cooper, chief curator, said it was “wonderfully exciting” to add a new picture of the Virgin Queen to the collection."
