Nat Faxon and Jim Rash in Conversation
Tuesday 13 August
After winning an Oscar for co-writing Alexander Payne’s The Descendants, multi-talented filmmaking duo Nat Faxon and Jim Rash have co-written, directed and also perform in the ensemble cast in their first feature film, The Way Way Back, which has its UK premiere at Somerset House the same evening.

Film4 Shorts
Wednesday 14 August
A specially curated programme of short films from Film4 Productions. As well as developing and financing features such as The Iron Lady andSightseers, Film4 works with new and up-and-coming talent to make a number of shorts each year. Tonight’s screening will provide audiences with the chance to catch up with recent films such as Jonah and Flytopia, and meet some of the exciting young filmmakers behind them.

Japanese Gothic

The ghost story, born of murder or unfulfilled desire, is a classic tale continually retold in film. This talk with writer and film curator Jasper Sharp will explore the evolution of supernatural gothic in Japanese cinema and culture. Presented in association with the BFI Gothic season.

David Gordon Green in Conversation
Wednesday 21 August
Thirteen years ago David Gordon Green’s debut feature, George Washington, announced him as one of cinema’s most distinctive new voices. He has since built an eclectic filmography ranging from intimate dramas to broader comedies, such asPineapple Express. This marks the night of the UK premiere of his most recent film, Prince Avalanche.

Print Club London: Summer Screen Prints
1–21 August 2013
A free exhibition of editioned hand screen printed film posters to coincide with Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House which sees some of the most talented and innovative illustrators from the UK, Europe and USA design and produce 16 new and original screen prints, inspired by the each of the films screened this year.

Drop-in Family Workshop: Be Animated About Film
Saturday 10 August
If you are fanatical about film or crazy about cartoons join us for a day of cinematic fun and activity. Families can sign up on the day to explore simple forms of animation and create miniature film set designs for their own stop-frame motion creations. For families with accompanied children aged 6-12.
