Discovering Literature
Discovering Literature is a major new website exploring the British Library’s greatest literary treasures from the Romantic and Victorian periods.

Uncover unique insights into the worlds in which major literary works were created, from Dickens’s urban underworlds and the polite society of Jane Austen to the radical politics of William Blake and the fantasy worlds of the Brontë sisters.

Enduring War: Grief, Grit and Humour

A major part of the Library's contribution to the First World War Centenary, Enduring War examines how people coped with life during the war, from moments of patriotic fervour to periods of anxious inactivity, shock and despair.


Accompanying the exhibition is a series of events including:

Kate Adie: Fighting on the Home Front
Join war correspondent Kate Adie as she charts the seismic impact of women on the modern world.

The Forgotten Soldiers
Over one million non-white people died in the First World War. Broadcaster David Olusoga explores the legacy of those often forgotten soldiers.

Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK
