We'll be announcing the winners of the 2014 competition in September, you can see the results live from the ceremony on the @ROGAstronomers Twitter. This year has seen more entries than any other as the competition gets larger than ever. See all the submissions online and join us at the Royal Observatory from the 18 September for an exhibition displaying the breath-taking winning images. Tall Ships Festival
5 - 9 September 
The Tall Ships Festival will be arriving in Greenwich, bringing with it over 50 tall ships from around the world. We're staying open late throughout the festival along with special events, discounts and a whole host of delicious eats. You can also join us outside the museum for the Crew Parade on 6 September.

The Whale an Exploration
20 September
A unique day-long event navigating the fluctuating human relationship with one of the ocean's most remarkable and threatened creatures. Guest speakers include author Philip Hoare, a member from the acclaimed BBCLife and Frozen Planet team, leading scientists and a former whaler.

We're taking part in the annual Open House London weekend with special architectural tours and curator's talks. Learn all about the first classical Renaissance building in Britain and discover some of the stunning art on display in our current exhibitions.

ROYAL OBSERVATORY
From Stars to Satellites
Closes 31 August
This week is your last chance to see our exhibition exploring the history of satellite navigation. From its origins in star-gazing and science fiction follow the rise of this world-changing technology. You can also see how it ties into the historical quest for longitude with the Ships, Clocks and Stars exhibition at the National Maritime Museum.

Kate Mosse Talks Taxidermy at the Horniman Museum and Gardens
11 September
Best-selling author Kate Mosse launches her new novel The Taxidermist’s Daughter with special guests, taxidermy talks and demonstrations, live music and more. Signed first editions of the book will be available to purchase on the night. In partnership with Orion Publishing and Dulwich Books.
