Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 27-28 September. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal this weekend, but please check if any of the following affect you.





London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.

Central line
On Sunday, Chancery Lane station is completely closed to allow for station improvement work.

Circle line
Trains will not run between Gloucester Road and Aldgate, via Victoria. This is to enable station improvement work at Victoria and track and drainage replacement work at Embankment.

District line
There is no service between South Kensington and Aldgate East. This is to allow for station improvement work at Victoria and track and drainage replacement work at Embankment.




London Overground


Trains will not run between Surrey Quays and Crystal Palace/West Croydon for Thameslink work and while we carry out station improvement work at New Cross Gate.
 
On Sunday, there is no service between the following stations:
 Clapham Junction and Kensington (Olympia) (to enable Network Rail track work)
 Gospel Oak and Barking (to allow for Network Rail track work)
 Willesden Junction and Camden Road via West Hampstead (in preparation for 5 car trains)
 
Alternative route:
During the closure between Willesden Junction and Camden Road, an alternative London Overground route will run between Willesden Junction and Stratford via Kensal Green, Queen’s Park, Kilburn High Road, South Hampstead, Camden Road, and all stations to Stratford.

London Buses


Putney Bridge - Wandsworth Council’s Putney Bridge is currently closed; they have announced that it will re-open tomorrow, Friday 26 September. For more information, please click here

Central London - On Saturday, from 03:00 until midnight, buses will be diverted or stop short of their normal destination in the Oxford Circus, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and Green Park areas. This is due to a Regent Street event.

City of London - From 17:00 on Saturday until 10:00 on Sunday, a sporting event will take place between Southwark Park and Old Billingsgate. Southwark Park Road will be closed in both directions from 17:00 on Saturday until 01:00 on Sunday. Buses will be diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Ealing - On Sunday from 07:30 until 13:00, a sporting event will take place. Roads in and around the area are expected to be busier than normal. Buses will be diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Central London - From 22:00 on Sunday until 06:00 on Saturday 4 October each night, Regent Street will be closed southbound between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus due to roadworks. Buses will be diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:

Putney Bridge - Wandsworth Council’s Putney Bridge is currently closed; they have announced that it will re-open tomorrow, Friday 26 September. For more information, please click here

North Circular (A406) - From 22:00 on Friday until 08:00 on Sunday, westbound road closures and lane restrictions are taking place between Redbridge Roundabout and Waterworks Roundabout (at times including the M11 junction with the North Circular) to enable road resurfacing work. Most of this work, which is taking place until mid-October, will be on certain weekends although some work may be overnight during the week. Central London - On Saturday, from 03:00 until midnight, Regent Street will be closed between Mortimer Street and Piccadilly Circus due to a Regent Street event.

Wembley - On Sunday from 14:30 until 23:00, North Circular (A406), Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around Wembley Stadium are expected to be busy, due to an event at the stadium.

Central London - From 22:00 on Sunday until 06:00 on Saturday 4 October each night, Regent Street will be closed southbound between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus due to roadworks.

Ealing - There are overnight westbound road closures in place on Hanger Lane Underpass until mid-October due to maintenance work. At weekends, these closures are from midnight Friday until 07:00 on Saturday, on Sunday from 01:00 until 08:00 and from midnight Sunday until 06:00 on Monday. Monday to Thursday nights, closures are from 23:00 until 05:30.

 Kingsway is out of service due to electrical work
 Clifton Street is out of service due to utility work
 On Sunday, from 07:00 until 19:00, Manresa Road is out of service due to street work
