Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 11/12 October. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal this weekend, but please check if any of the following affect you.



Strike action

In response to plans to modernise and improve your Tube service, the RMT union has announced a 48 hour Tube strike next week. We are in discussions with the union to try and resolve this issue.

If the strike goes ahead, Tube services will be affected from around 21:00 on Tuesday 14 October until 20:59 on Thursday 16 October. We are working on plans to keep London moving should the strike go ahead. For more details, please click here





London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.

Bakerloo line
On Sunday, there is no service between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone due to Network Rail engineering work.

District line
Trains will not run between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Kensington (Olympia). This is to allow for track replacement work at West Kensington and line improvement work at Richmond. Piccadilly line trains will call additionally at Turnham Green.

Jubilee line
On Sunday, there is no service between Waterloo and Finchley Road until 11:00 to enable us to carry out essential tunnelling work.

Piccadilly line
On Sunday, trains will not run between Acton Town and Uxbridge. This is to allow for points work at Ealing Common.




London Overground


On Saturday, there is no service between Highbury & Islington and Clapham Junction/New Cross/Crystal Palace/West Croydon, in preparation to accommodate five car trains.
 
On Sunday, trains will not run between the following stations:
 Gospel Oak and Stratford from 22:00 (to allow for Network Rail track work)
 Queen’s Park and Watford Junction (in preparation for five car trains)
 Highbury & Islington and Clapham Junction/New Cross/New Cross Gate (in preparation for five car trains)
 Sydenham and Crystal Palace (in preparation for five car trains)
 
In addition, there is no service between Richmond and Willesden Junction, due to Network Rail track improvement work.

London Buses


Central London - Overnight road closures are in place from 22:00 until 06:00 on Oxford Street, between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road until Saturday morning. From Sunday until Saturday next week, the overnight closures will be between Oxford Circus and Orchard Street. These are due to Christmas light installation. Buses may be diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Central London - On Sunday, from 05:00 until 13:00 over 50 bus routes will be on diversion or stop short of their normal destination between South Kensington and Westminster, due to an event taking place through four of central London’s Royal Parks. For more information, please click here

Kingston - On Sunday, from 06:00 until 12:00, a sporting event will take place. Roads in and around the area are expected to be busier than normal. Buses will be diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:

Central London - Overnight road closures are in place from 22:00 until 06:00 on Oxford Street, between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road until Saturday morning. From Sunday until Saturday next week, the overnight closures will be between Oxford Circus and Orchard Street. These are due to Christmas light installation.

Holloway - Lane restrictions are in place on Holloway Road (A1) at the junction of Highbury Corner, until 17:00 on Saturday 31 January 2015, due to construction work.

Central London - On Sunday, from 05:00 until 13:00 significant road closures will be in place for an event taking place through four of central London’s Royal Parks. Notable road closures include Hyde Park Corner, St James’s Park, Westminster Bridge, Victoria Embankment and Kensington Gardens. For more information, please click here

Central London - From 08:00 on Monday 13 October until 17:00 on Wednesday 15 October, the A4 St James’s Street southbound and Pall Mall eastbound will be closed between Piccadilly and Haymarket to allow for Thames Water work.

North Circular (A406) - From 22:00 on Friday until 08:00 on Sunday, westbound road closures and lane restrictions are taking place between Redbridge Roundabout and Waterworks Roundabout (at times including the M11 junction with the North Circular) to enable road resurfacing work. Most of this work, which is taking place until mid-October, will be on certain weekends although some work may be overnight during the week. Ealing - There are overnight westbound road closures in place on Hanger Lane Underpass until mid-October due to maintenance work. At weekends, these closures are from midnight Friday until 07:00 on Saturday, on Sunday from 01:00 until 08:00 and from midnight Sunday until 06:00 on Monday. Monday to Thursday nights, closures are from 23:00 until 05:30.

Stratford - Lane closures are in place on the A118 High Street/Broadway at the junction of Great Eastern Road, until 16:00 on Friday 14 November. This is due to utility work in the area.

Barclays Cycle Hire


The following docking stations are out of service:
 Great Titchfield Street (for pavement improvement work)
 Kingsway (for electrical work)
 Penywern Road until November (for pavement improvement work)
 
From 23:00 on Saturday until 15:00 on Sunday, Embankment Horseguards, Somerset House and Cumberland Gate docking stations are also unavailable due to the park’s event.
