Join us this Friday for our monthly Tea Party, welcoming in 2015 with the usual tea, cake and good cheer. Meet the Rowan Arts team, learn more about upcoming projects and the volunteerting opportunities we offer, or just have a chat and a brew!

Resource for Holloway Job Club

Weekly on Thursday and Friday, 2-5pm at Resource for London 356 Holloway Road (next to Waitrose) N7 6PA 
Join us for a practical introduction into framing shots and producing attention-grabbing images on Thursday 8.

Free Wordpress Introduction 

Friday 16 January + Saturday 17 January 10am-4pm at London Metropolitan University, 166-220 Holloway Road, London N7 8DB, Room TM1-33 
This course will introduce you to using the WordPress publishing platform for building your website. Over the two days you will learn how to set up WordPress on a web server, build and customise your website. This course is specifically aimed at people who work in or are creating projects for non-profit and third sector organisations. You should be comfortable using a computer and familiar with word processing programs.

Meet the cantankerous Ginger Baker, best known for his work in 1970s rock supergroup Cream and oft pronounced Britain's best ever drummer. 'Beware of Mr Baker' won the grand duty prize for documentary at SXSW in 2012.

Call out for submissions: Short Film Award

Reel Islington are once again calling for entries for their Short Film Award, part of Reel Islington Film Festival 2015. The festival showcases the work of both established and up-and-coming film makers. Short film submissions should be connected to the theme of ‘Urbanscapes’ and we particularly encourage submissions from people who have a connection to Islington. MakeArt Exhibition Review 

MakeArt hold after-school art courses throughout the year at Islington Arts Factor for children aged 4-18, fostering their artistic development using a variety of mediums. Read Rowan Arts volunteer Lou Fioravanti's review of a 'kaleidoscopic' exhibition of work by 4-18 year olds on at Islington Arts Factory until Friday.

Paid Intern Position with Rowan Arts

A 12 month paid internship at Rowan Arts is open for application from unemployed 18-24 year olds living in Islington. The position will provide experience in working across a range of arts and heritage projects, assisting with their coordination and delivery. New Volunteering Opportunities

Rowan Arts have regular placement opportunities working on projects including Holloway LifeHolloway Arts FestivalIslington Exhibits. We are looking for volunteers to join the busy, friendly team in our office starting this month. Placements are available in Arts Admin, Marketing and Promotion, Social Media, Events Management and Heritage and Research to start in January, and training is given. First World War Heritage Projects

Rowan Arts is working in partnership with Finsbury Park Trust and Holloway Neighbourhood Group to produce two First World War Heritage Projects. Soldier Painter Traitor Spy and Home and Away will both launch in the the New Year - click here for project details. We are looking for volunteers interested in finding out more about First World War to get involved; this will include archival research, using online databases, visiting museums such as the Imperial War Museum, and creating content for an exhibition and website. Training will be given. The Diary of a Nobody

With the help of four actors playing forty-five characters, a disgraceful number of builders, a much-bashed-about piano and some living lamp shades, this heart-warming, hysterical production celebrates the joys and frustrations of everyday life.
