Description

The British Museum is located in the heart of Central London and opened in 1759 to visitors eager to see the museum’s incredible artefacts! With over 8 million works over nearly one million square feet, it’s no surprise that the British Museum houses one of the largest collections in existence.

The British Museum is filled with objects spanning all continents and centuries of human civilisation. This professionally guided tour will take you to view some of the museum’s most breathtaking relics across 70 galleries. You will see the Elgin Marbles, a collection of classical Greek marble sculptures dating back to 438 BCE, ancient Egyptian mummies and Anglo Saxon treasures.

Have a look at the Rosetta Stone, delicately inscribed with an Ancient Egyptian decree issued in 196 BC. This astonishing black granite stone has been on display at the British Museum since 1802 and is an essential stop on your tour. Other highlights include the Parthenon Frieze and Egyptian Rooms.

You will be given individual audio headsets at the start of your tour, allowing you to hear the guide at all times as the group wanders through the museum. Group size is limited to 20 people for a personal touch.

The tour will end at the British Museum around 12.30pm.
