Final weeks of African Summer

Don't miss out on our last two Explore Africa sessions on Tuesdays where you can discover more about our African collections and Big Wednesdays - a day of fun activities including dance, craft, storytelling and film.

Our final Bandstand concert is on Sunday with Manding Sabu whose music combines the West African harp with party-smashing grooves.

Join us for a very colourful finale to our African Summer. See extravagant concerts, carnival parades, pop up performances, live music, food and more. See the full programme.

Family Bat Walk
Friday 21 August, 7-9pm

Find bats in our Gardens using detectors, learn how to identify different types of bats and see a bat skeleton up close. Bat costumes encouraged!
Suitable for ages 7+.

Adult Bat Walk
Friday 28 August, 7-9pm 

A session just for adults -  use bat detectors to find out what species are living in our Gardens and contribute to our bat survey as part of International Bat Night.

Explore the wonderful world of plants on a massive scale in our family exhibition. From giant seeds to sun-seeking flowers and a huge crawl-through root system, this interactive exhibition will bring visitors up close to the wonderful world of plants on a massive scale.

Open House London: Behind the Scenes of the Horniman Gardens

Our Head of Horticulture Wes Shaw will take you on a tour of the Horniman Gardens. Discover how the Gardens' displays are related to the Museum's collections and see behind the scenes at the Gardens Nursery where all our plants are grown.
