Transport for London - Weekend travel information

travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 28/29 November. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you.

London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.

Circle line
Trains will not run between Edgware Road and Tower Hill, via King's Cross St. Pancras. This is due to track replacement work at Euston Square and Farringdon, line improvement work at Barbican, as well as Crossrail work at Liverpool Street.

District line
There will be no service between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington and on Saturday only, there will be no service between Earl's Court and Kensington (Olympia). This is due to line improvement work. On Sunday, trains will not run between Turnham Green and Richmond.

Hammersmith & City line
Trains will not run between Edgware Road and Barking. This is due to track replacement work at Euston Square and Farringdon, line improvement work at Barbican, as well as Crossrail work at Liverpool Street.

Metropolitan line
There will be no service between Baker Street and Aldgate. This is due to track replacement work at Euston Square and Farringdon, line improvement work at Barbican, as well as Crossrail work at Liverpool Street.




London Overground


On Sunday, there will be no service between the following stations:
 Richmond and Willesden Junction, due to Network Rail track work
 Gospel Oak and Barking, to prepare the line for electrification
 Trains on the Chingford branch will not stop at Bethnal Green until 23:59, due to Network Rail track work

Buses


Streatham - Until 19:00 on Monday 30 November, there is a northbound lane restriction on Streatham Hill, between Tierney Road and Staplefield Close. This is due to Thames Water works. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination.

Central London - Until mid-December, Victoria Embankment, Upper and Lower Thames Street have lane closures in each direction. Contraflows are in place between Temple Place and Derby Gate, between Puddle Dock and Arthur Street, and between Fish Street Hill and Great Tower Street. This is while we continue to progress the East-West Cycle Superhighway from Tower Hill to Lancaster Gate, as part of the Road Modernisation Plan. Some roads in the area will be busier than usual and there may be delays. Please plan ahead and allow more time for your journey. Central London - From 07:00 until 19:00 on Saturday, there will be various road closures due to an event. Regent Street will be closed in both directions between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus, and also closed southbound between Mortimer Street and Oxford Circus. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination.

Central London - From 07:00 until 18:00 on Saturday, there will be a lane restriction on New Oxford Street at the junction of Bloomsbury Way. This is due to crane works. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination.

Twickenham - From 12:00 until 22:00 on Saturday, roads leading to Twickenham station and stadium are expected to be busy due to an event. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination.

Central London - From 12:00 until 17:00 on Sunday, there will be various road closures including Park Lane, Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square and Millbank. This is due to an event. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination.

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:

Santander Cycles


The following docking stations will be out of service this weekend:
 Southampton Place, for power connection works
 New Cavendish Street, for electrical works
 Baldwin Street, for utility works
 Storey’s Gate, Jewry Street and St. Martin’s Close, for resurfacing works
