Transport for London - Weekend travel information - 19/20 March 2016

weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 19/20 March. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you.

Proposed Tube strike action
The RMT union is currently planning to take strike action on the Piccadilly line from 21:00 on Wednesday 23 March for 24 hours. The strike involves Piccadilly line drivers and services would be disrupted from early evening on Wednesday and all day on Thursday 24 March. If the strike goes ahead we will provide you with detailed travel information, please follow @TfLtravelalerts

Advance Easter travel information
Planned improvement work will take place on the Tube and rail networks between Friday 25 March and Friday 1 April. To plan ahead, visit tfl.gov.uk/easter or nationalrail.co.uk/easter
If you are travelling to the Boat Race on Easter Sunday, 27 March, please note that South West Trains services between Clapham Junction and Barnes will be replaced by buses. This is due to engineering work. For more information, please visit tfl.gov.uk/easter





London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.

Circle line
There will be no service on the entire line. This is to allow us to carry out track, drainage and Crossrail work between Farringdon and Liverpool Street.

District line
Trains will not run between Tower Hill and West Ham while we carry out track and drainage replacement work at Aldgate East as well as Crossrail work at Whitechapel.

Hammersmith & City line
There will be no service between King’s Cross St. Pancras and Barking. This is to allow us to carry out track and drainage replacement work between Farringdon and Aldgate East as well as Crossrail work at Whitechapel.

Metropolitan line
Trains will not run between King’s Cross St. Pancras and Aldgate while we carry out track, drainage and Crossrail work between Farringdon and Liverpool Street.




London Overground


Trains will not run between Romford and Upminster, due to Crossrail construction and Network Rail infrastructure work.

Additionally, London Overground trains will not serve Whitechapel on Saturday and Sunday.
 
On Sunday, there will be no service between the following stations:
 Gospel Oak and Barking until 12:00, to prepare the line for electrification
 Camden Road and Stratford due to bridge replacement work at Highbury Corner
 Sydenham and West Croydon, due to Network Rail track work





TfL Rail


Trains will not run between Liverpool Street and Shenfield. This is due to Network Rail overhead line and track upgrade work.

Buses


Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination:

Blackwall Tunnel - The tunnel will be closed southbound from midnight on Thursday night until 05:00 on Friday and from 01:00 to 08:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Brixton - From 10:00 until 15:00 each day until late May, there will be lane restrictions southbound on Brixton Road between Gresham Road and Canterbury Crescent. This is for junction improvement works.

Dulwich - Until late April, there are temporary traffic signals in place on Lordship Lane at the junction of Dulwich Common. These will be in operation from 21:00 until 06:00, except for Friday and Saturday nights.

Central London - From 10:00 until 16:00 on Saturday, there will be road closures and delays to traffic in the area, including Trafalgar Square, Oxford Circus, Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus. This is for a march.

Northwest London - From 05:15 until 13:45 on Sunday, there will be road closures in the Brent and Barnet areas for a sporting event. For a full list of closures, please visit tfl.gov.uk/weekend-travel

Islington - From 07:00 on Monday until 22:00 on Wednesday 30 March, a contraflow will be in place on City Road at the junction of City Garden Row. This is for National Grid gas works.

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:
