Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this bank holiday weekend, 30 April - 2 May. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you.





London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.

District line
Eastbound trains will not stop at Whitechapel. This is for Crossrail construction work.

Hammersmith & City line
Eastbound trains will not stop at Whitechapel. This is for Crossrail construction work.

Northern line
There will be no service between Archway and High Barnet/Mill Hill East. This is to allow for track and drainage replacement work at Finchley Central.




London Overground


Tonight, Thursday, trains will not run between Bethnal Green and Enfield Town/Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) after 22:30. This is for Network Rail track work.

On Sunday and Monday, there will be no service between Gospel Oak and Barking, to prepare the line for electrification.

On Sunday and Monday, trains will not run between Romford and Upminster. This is for Network Rail infrastructure and Crossrail construction work.





TfL Rail


On Sunday and Monday, there will be no service between Ilford and Shenfield. This is while Network Rail carry out overhead power and track works, as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan and the Crossrail project.

Buses


Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination:

Victoria - From 20:00 tonight until 06:00 tomorrow, Friday, Buckingham Palace Road will be closed in both directions between Eccleston Street and Elizabeth Street. This is for resurfacing work.

Tower Bridge - From 20:00 tonight, Thursday until 05:00 tomorrow, Friday, there will be a southbound lane restriction on Tower Bridge. Between the same times on the nights of Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 May, there is a northbound lane restriction on Tower Bridge. This is for borough investigative work.

East London - From 22:00 on Friday until 05:00 on Monday, A13 Lodge Avenue Flyover will be closed in both directions. This is for maintenance works. For more information, please click here

London Bridge - From 01:00 on Saturday until 06:00 on Tuesday, Tooley Street will be closed between Borough High Street and Bermondsey Street. Duke Street Hill will also be closed. From 06:00 on Tuesday until February 2018, Tooley Street will be closed eastbound and buses will be diverted. This is for Network Rail works. Twickenham - From 12:00 until 19:00 on Saturday, roads in and around Twickenham are expected to be busier than usual, including A316 Chertsey Road, all roads leading to Twickenham Station and around Twickenham stadium. This is for a sporting event. In addition, London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed before and after the event.

Central London - From 11:30 until 17:00 on Sunday, there will be road closures and delays on various roads, including Clerkenwell Road, Theobalds Road, High Holborn, Kingsway, Aldwych, Strand and Trafalgar Square. This is for a procession.

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:
