Museum of London - Free family festival marking 350 years since the Great Fire of London






Beat the back-to-school blues and join us on 3-4 September for a free family festival, marking the 350th anniversary of the blaze. We're inviting you to:

  • Make some noise at interactive musical performances and workshops.
  • Help build a flaming skyline.
  • Dress up like it's the 17th century.
  • Quiz our expert curators about the fire.
  • Hold real objects that survived the blaze.
  • Watch London burn in specially-created Minecraft maps.
  • Take part in an interactive storytelling session.

Be sure to mark this momentous moment with the Museum of London.

Explore London before, during and after the Great Fire in this hands-on, atmospheric exhibition, perfect for families. Stroll through a reconstruction of a 17th century street, discover how the flames spread across London, try your hand at rebuilding the city and much more. Join an expert guide for a compelling 45 minute Great Fire themed walk. Take part in interactive quizzes and family challenges as you visit the sites the fire struck.

Follow the story of the Great Fire in our latest Minecraft map, available to play from the 2 September. Take part in a series of mini-games and experience what happened during the fateful days of the Great Fire of 1666. Watch the trailer here.
One lucky winner will win 4 tickets to Fire! Fire!, plus copies of The Great Fire Dogs by Megan Rix. This heart-warming tale explores the Great Fire of London from the perspective of two brave dogs from different backgrounds who must fight to escape the flames. Twenty runners-up will win copies of this charming story.
