Transport for London - Weekend travel information 24-25 th Sept 2016

Weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 24-25 September. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you.





London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.

Circle line
There will be no service between Hammersmith and Tower Hill via King's Cross St. Pancras. This is to allow us to carry out Crossrail construction work at Moorgate, Barbican and Liverpool Street and track replacement work at Farringdon. A Circle line service will run between Edgware Road and Barking (via Victoria).

District line
On Sunday trains will not run between Turnham Green and Richmond. This is while Network Rail carry out track improvement work.

Hammersmith & City line
There will be no service between King’s Cross St. Pancras and Barking while we carry out Crossrail construction work at Moorgate, Barbican and Liverpool Street and track replacement work at Farringdon.

Metropolitan line
Trains will not run between King’s Cross St. Pancras and Aldgate. This is to allow us to carry out Crossrail construction work at Moorgate, Barbican and Liverpool Street and track replacement work at Farringdon.




London Overground


There will be no service between the following stations:
 Liverpool Street and Enfield Town/Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters)/Walthamstow Central, for Network Rail track work
 Romford and Upminster, for Crossrail and Network Rail infrastructure work
 
On Sunday, trains will not run between Richmond and Camden Road via West Hampstead, for Network Rail track and infrastructure work. 

From Monday until Thursday, there is no service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:30, for Network Rail track work. 

Trains are not running between South Tottenham and Barking. From Saturday until February 2017, the closure will be extended and there will be no service on the entire line between Gospel Oak and Barking. This is while Network Rail carry out major works to enable new, longer trains to run from 2018. For more information, please click here

TfL Rail


There will be no service between Stratford and Shenfield. This is while Network Rail carry out track and station improvements as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan, as well as Crossrail construction work.

Buses


Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination: 

Advance notice: Tower Bridge closure - From Saturday 1 October until Friday 30 December, Tower Bridge will be closed to all traffic while the City of London Corporation carry out major essential maintenance works. Bus routes 42, 78 and RV1 will be affected. It will be open to pedestrians for all but three weekends. For full details, please visit tfl.gov.uk/tower-bridge-closure 

Westminster - From 07:00 until 09:00 on Saturday, Westminster Bridge will be closed in both directions. This is to facilitate filming. 

Southeast London - From 19:30 on Saturday until midday on Sunday, an event is taking place. Roads in the area will be busier than usual, including Jamaica Road, Abbey Street, Druid Street, Tower Bridge Road, Tooley Street, and Lower Thames Street. The right turn lane from Druid Street to Tower Bridge Road will be closed, and Queen Elizabeth Street will be closed eastbound between Tooley Street and Tower Bridge Road. 

Finsbury Park - From 22:00 until 23:00 on Saturday and 21:30 until 22:30 on Sunday, Stroud Green Road will be closed between Upper Tollington Park and Seven Sisters Road. This is for an event. 

London Bridge - From 07:00 until 18:00 on Sunday, the northbound pavement and bus lane will be closed. This is for an event.

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend: 

Advance notice: Tower Bridge closure - From Saturday 1 October until Friday 30 December, Tower Bridge will be closed to all traffic while the City of London Corporation carry out major essential maintenance works. Roads in and around the area will be busier than usual. A signed diversion route will be in place, via London Bridge northbound and via Southwark Bridge southbound. The following docking stations will be out of service this weekend:

 South Quay West, Wansey Street and High Holborn, for building works
 Upper Richmond Road, for electrical installations
 Speakers’ Corner 1 & 2 and Cumberland Gate, for civil works
 Triangle Car Park, for an event
 Westfield Eastern Access Road, for site development
 Kensington Church Street, for water works
