HANG-UP GALLERY LAUNCHES THE BUNKER WITH AN EXHIBITION ENTITLED LIGHTVISIONS BY LAUREN BAKER

81 Stoke Newington Road, London N16 8AD from 5 Nov 2016 – 8 Jan 2017, with the Private View launch on the evening of the 4 Nov, from 6 - 9 pm

In celebration of a successful first year in their new space in Dalston, leading East-London art gallery Hang-Up are proud to announce the opening of their new downstairs art space - the bunker. Previously operating as a ‘rum shop’ the space has been re-fitted as a slick subterranean gallery accessed through a secret door.

Director Ben Cotton says, “Acquiring this space gives us significantly more room for artist exhibitions with the added (and potentially dangerous) addition of a licensed bar also included!"

Internationally renowned artist Lauren Baker will be officially launching the space with an exhibition entitled LIGHTVISIONS, which will display a new collection of original neon works and limited edition prints.

Inspired by the stimulating impact of light, Baker’s LIGHTVISIONS promises a physical exploration of varied materials, texture and form, with a series of works that radiate with electric energy. Each carefully considered artwork examines her philosophy of life with a focus on love, connection and metaphysical transcendence. The exhibition carries spiritual undertones after Baker spent two months in Guatemala studding metaphysics and meditation.

Baker explains “..when we are aligned with our inner self we can link with higher energy sources and the lens or eye for creativity expands.”

LIGHTVISIONS will display an array of original hand-blown neon artworks in the artist’s handwriting alongside a series of hand embellished diamond dust prints in a range of prices from £375 - £16, 000. New and previously unseen limited editions will be released at the Private View.

Baker has been named "an artist to watch out for" by the Tate. She has created installations at The V&A and Tate Britain, ran art workshops at Tate Modern as well as directing the two main windows of Selfridges for their Christmas campaign. The artist also curated a charity exhibition THRIVE which raise £62,000 for the Save The Wild Tigers initiative.

Lauren Baker’s LIGHTVISIONS exhibition is on at Hang-Up Gallery’s new downstairs art space bunker, 81 Stoke Newington Road, London N16 8AD from 5 Nov 2016 – 8 Jan 2017, with the Private View launch on the evening of the 4 Nov, from 6 - 9 pmwhere the artist will be in attendance.
