Natural History Museum - Dippy the dinosaur is on the move

Get ready for a dinosaur road trip
Dippy will travel the length and breadth of the country from early 2018 to late 2020.

For the first time Dippy will be on public display outside of London, visiting Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and five regions across England inspiring people to explore the natural world around them.

The eight venues for the Dippy on Tour: A natural history adventure are:
  • Dorset County Museum
  • Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery
  • Ulster Museum
  • Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow
  • Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle upon Tyne
  • National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff
  • Number One Riverside, Rochdale
  • Norwich Cathedral

Send Dippy off in style at our first-ever New Year’s Eve Ball. With the help of Guilty Pleasures DJs, dance the night away and see in 2017 in our iconic main hall.

Kid's Christmas sleepover
Join us for a special sleepover with a festive twist including Christmas carols and live reindeer. Camp around Dippy for the last time before the Diplodocus leaves the main hall.

Visiting in 2017
From 5 January our main hall will be closed for major redevelopment work. Our popular Dinosaurs gallery, Volcanoes and Earthquakes and Mammals hall will remain open as usual.
