Hokusai exhibition Free schools programme

This summer term immerse yourself in the poetic and powerful work of Japan’s greatest artist, Katsushika Hokusai. This new exhibition will present his most famous works – including the iconic Great Wave – as well as artworks never seen in the UK before. You and your students will be able to explore Hokusai’s personal, spiritual and artistic quests. Our school programme offers a wide range of cross-curricular activities across all Key Stages. It combines opportunities to consider the processes of artistic creation and artistic techniques, as well as a chance to study Hokusai’s life, and the time and society in which he lived. Whether you’re teaching Art and Design, History or PSHE, our printmaking workshops, art gallery sessions, school exclusive mornings or online resources provide a truly unique and inspiring learning experience. There’s also a private view of the exhibition for teachers on Monday 12 June at 18.00 – a perfect opportunity to discover the exhibition, plan your trip with your class or enhance your subject knowledge with our specialists.
