BBC Audience - Sketch trio The Penny Dreadfuls return to BBC Radio 4

The Penny Dreadfuls Present: Le Carré On Spying
A brand new Le Carré thriller about John Le Carré himself, performed with daft characters and stupid jokes.

Join sketch trio The Penny Dreadfuls for their latest comedy to be performed in the legendary BBC Radio Theatre in Broadcasting House.

Uncover the truth* about John Le Carré's secret past in the murky world of 1960s espionage and be transported back to the paranoid height of The Cold War as you negotiate the BBC's stringent security measures on entering the building. This is the seventh hour-long comedy by The Penny Dreadfuls for BBC Radio 4, who specialise in taking iconic historical figures or events and turning them into rip-roaring laugh-out-loud adventures.

In the past they've toyed with Guy Fawkes, The French Revolution, William the Conqueror, Macbeth, Odysseus and Darwin's Voyage of the Beagle. All now available on iTunes as two splendid albums.

The Penny Dreadfuls are Humphrey Ker (tall), David Reed (medium) and Thom Tuck (drunk). David Reed writes the plays. They will be joined as ever by honorary Dreadful Margaret Cabourn-Smith plus two special guest stars, including the The News Quiz's Miles Jupp.

*This play is in no way the truth.
