The Spirit of Christmas returns to London’s most iconic street on Thursday 16th November, with a magical, festive celebration to mark the switch-on of the capital’s largest Christmas lighting scheme.

Regent Street was the very first central London street to introduce festive lighting and decoration back in 1954 to bring the spirit of Christmas to all Londoners. The tradition has carried on and since influenced many other destinations nationwide to bring this spirit to their local communities through festive lighting schemes.

From 4pm on November 16th, the grand stretch of Regent Street will be fully pedestrianised from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus until 9pm, enabling visitors to the capital to soak up the festive atmosphere amongst Regent Street’s world-class shops and restaurants.  Stores, restaurants, hotels and bars will be opening their doors for the evening to offer exclusive treats and surprises – the perfect opportunity to buy gifts for loved ones or celebrate ahead of Christmas. Bigger and more twinkling than ever, the event will begin with an array of performances from special guests, including an iconic artist and a world-class performance to be announced very soon.

The fleet of spectacular large-scale ‘spirits’ – Regent Street’s most ambitions lighting scheme – will return for a second year to soar the length of one of London’s most recognisable destinations. Designed by leading British lighting creatives, James Glancy Design, the scheme is a breath-taking gift to the street’s visitors to mark the ‘most wonderful time of the year’.
