Marylebone Christmas Lights Wednesday 15th November 2017

ORGANISED BY THE HOWARD DE WALDEN ESTATE IN SUPPORT OF SCHOOL HOME SUPPORT.

Every year Marylebone Village hosts a Christmas Lights event to celebrate the switch on of its Christmas decorations. Organised by the Howard de Walden Estate, this is a fantastic community event packed with crowds coming to watch the switch on, enjoy the stage performances, take part in the various activities, shop and eat! The event is a true village affair with local retailers and residents working together.

Dame Barbara Windsor DBE will be turning on the Marylebone Christmas Lights 2017.Barbara is best known for her Carry On films and for playing Peggy Mitchell in the BBC One soap EastEnders, but she has also made hundreds of other TV and film appearances and has toured all over the world in plays and musicals. Acting since the age of 13, Barbara has earned various awards including BBC Personality of the Year, Best Actress from the National TV Soap Awards, The Manchester Evening News Best Soap Actress and two-lifetime achievement awards from Inside Soap and the prestigious Women in Film and Television Awards. In 2000 Barbara was awarded the MBE in the Millennium New Year honours and in 2016 was honoured with a Damehood. Most recently, she has been the subject of a BBC TV drama called BABS. Barbara will be on stage just before 6 pm to switch on the Christmas lights.
