METRONOMY

Metronomy

THU 5 JUL

Metronomy
, led by founder and songwriter Joseph Mount, belong in the hallowed list of idiosyncratic, slightly eccentric, but great British pop bands. Serving up singalongs with irresistible basslines, the band’s rhythm section adds a supple, fluid dynamic that gives their anthems the space to stretch out and shimmy.

FLIGHT FACILITIES

Flight Facilities

FRI 6 JUL

In a world where chart-toppers are increasingly defined by algorithms and playlists, Flight Facilities have spent their career bucking trends in electronic music, crafting songs which are irresistible feel-good dancefloor hits and featuring collaborations with emerging and legendary voices such as Reggie Watts, Emma Louise, Broods, Kylie and Katie Noonan.

LP

LP

TUE 10 JUL

Laura Pergolizzi (aka LP) is an American artist whose breakthrough album Lost on You showcases effortless vocal performances and assured songwriting.

Live, she owns the stage like an androgynous “alley cat” (Guardian) and with celebrity fans like Kendall Jenner singing her praises, LP is finally taking her own place in the spotlight, having previously written hits for pop royalty including Rihanna and Rita Ora.

SIGRID

Sigrid

WED 11 JUL

This young singer songwriter and winner of the Sound of 2018 poll joins the likes of Adele, Sam Smith and Ellie Goulding, all previous winners of the influential BBC poll who’ve played Summer Series. The breakout artist of 2017, Sigridhas gone from small clubs to headlining major venues in just nine months, with her acclaimed debut EP Don’t Kill My Vibeamassing over 100M global streams.

THE ROOTS

The Roots

THU 12 JUL

The legendary, hardworking collective that embodies the spirit of hip, soul and funk joins us for an exclusive Summer Series date. DE LA SOUL

De La Soul

SAT 14 JUL

It’s hard to overstate the impact of De La Soul’s landmark 1989 debut 3 Feet High and Rising, but its potency and influence remains undiminished after three decades. Still hip hop royalty, the Long Island legends’ most recent albums are bursting at the seams with high profile fans and though the trio may be older and wiser, they’re clearly just as prone to maverick tendencies.

ROISIN MURPHY

Róisín Murphy

SUN 15 JUL

Róisín Murphy
first became known in the 1990s as one-half of the UK alternative dance duo Moloko, before embarking on a solo career that has revealed her wonderfully idiosyncratic music, fashion, and performance sensibilities. What better way to round off Summer Series than with one of the most fearlessly original female artists around.
