Burgh House & Hampstead Museum - Even more events this June at Burgh House

We have so much on at the House this June, we just couldn't fit details of all the events into one email! So, here's a focus on the fantastic things we have coming up in the last half of this month - and a sneak preview of what to look out for in July

The Villiers Quartet
Sunday 21st June, 2:00pm

The UK Sibelius Society presents a free concert featuring the Villiers Quartet. The programme will include Sibelius' Adagio in D minor, String Quartet in A minor, and String Quartet Voces intimae op 56. The concert is supported by The Sibelius Society of Finland. Verdandi Camerata
Sunday 21st June, 7:30pm

Verdandi Camerata make their return to Burgh House with another exciting recital. Musicians Chiawen Kiew (flute), Sam-Thi Nguyen (violin), Abigail Dance (viola) and Shu-Wei Tseng (cello) will perform flute and string quartets by Mozart and Haydn. Tickets £12/£10 (concessions) available on the door. Includes wine.
 

Hampstead Music Club: Chairman's Evening

Fantasies and Fugues for Cello and Piano
Friday 26th June, 7:00pm

Cellist Madeleine Ridd and pianist Robin Rubenstein present a recital of Romantic masterpieces for a midsummer's evening. The programme will include: Beethoven's Cello Sonata in D major (op 102 no 2); Schumann's Fantasiestucke (op 73); Bloch's Nigun; and Brahms' Cello Sonata in E minor (op 38). 'Hello from Hampstead!'
A new exhibition in July



This brand-new exhibition examines the history of postcards in the UK, from their peak usage during the 'Golden Age' to their decline following the outbreak of World War I. The exhibition focuses in particular on the use of postcards in Hampstead and the depiction of local landmarks. Opens 17th July.

Dates for the diary in July

Lifelines with Owen Sheers, Thu 23rd July, 7:30pm

Welsh writer Owen Sheers talks with Piers Plowright as part of the long-running Lifelines series of talks. Sheers, an award-winning poet, has also achieved success as an actor, playwright and TV presenter - and was the first-ever Writer in Residence for the Welsh Rugby Union. Tickets are £12 (£10 FoBH) and are available here.

Lifelines with Angela Hewitt, Thu 30th July, 7:30pm

Renowned pianist Angela Hewitt will be chatting about her life and career with Piers Plowright. Tickets are £12 (£10 FoBH) and are available here.
