Lisa Izumi Violin Recital

Lisa has chosen well known violin virtuoso masterworks and beloved romantic encores such as Ravel Tzigane, Saint Saëns Rondo and Capriciosso and Paganini Cantabile to make a highly contrasting, thrilling, heart rendering program for you to enjoy. Sunday brunch recital: An introduction to the life and work of Fryderyk Chopin

 In this special Sunday morning recital, acclaimed pianist David Richard takes us on a journey from Warsaw to Paris and mixes historical facts with playing some well-loved Chopin pieces. New Music Concert

Young musicians from different UK music colleges perform their own compositions. Each performance will be preceded by a short video giving an insight into the creative process of each piece. Shell Grottoes and Rocky Esplanades (or 'What I Did in the Holidays')
Thursday 17th September,
During the 17th and 18th centuries, collelcting exotic shells became a serious pursuit across Europe. Royalty and the wealthy competed for the best specimens for grotto making. In Britain, throughout the 19th century, coastal resorts were using the latest fashions in garden design and horticulture to attract ever-increasing numbers of visitors from the great towns and cities of the Industrial Revolution. This introductory talk will serve to illustrate the Autumn Term's courses. On Thursday mornings, we venture to Europe to feature historic Spanish and Dutch gardens. On Thursday afternoons, we explore the themes of 19th century British garden design and horticulture. The Garden Historians courses are both fun and enlightening.
