Caravaggio's influence was widespread and diverse. From 1600, artists from across Europe flocked to Rome to see his work, and many went on to imitate his naturalism and dramatic lighting effects – these included artists as talented and varied as Orazio Gentileschi, Georges de La Tour, Jusepe de Ribera and Gerrit van Honthorst.
Bringing together works by Caravaggio and the Italian, French, Flemish, Dutch, and Spanish artists he inspired, this major exhibition reveals Caravaggio’s lasting impact on European art.
