Transport For London - London Weekend Travel Information 4/5th March 2017

Here is oeekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 4-5 March. With only four London Underground lines affected by planned works, most of the network will be open with services running as normal. Please check if any of the following affect you.





London Underground



Circle line
There will be no service between Hammersmith and Tower Hill, via King’s Cross St. Pancras, while we test new signalling and replace track at Farringdon and Liverpool Street.

District line
Trains will not run between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington and between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia). This is while we test new signalling.

Hammersmith & City line
There will be no service between Edgware Road and Barking while we test new signalling and replace track at Farringdon and Liverpool Street.

Metropolitan line
Trains will not run between Baker Street and Aldgate. This is while we test new signalling and replace track at Farringdon and Liverpool Street.

London Overground


All weekend there will be no service between Romford and Upminster, due to Crossrail construction work and Network Rail infrastructure work.
On Sunday there will be no service between the following stations:
Kensington (Olympia) and Clapham Junction due to Earls Court development work
Gospel Oak and Stratford due to bridge replacement work at Highbury Corner, Network Rail station work at Hackney Wick, and Network Rail track work

DLR


There will be no service between Westferry/Poplar and Island Gardens all weekend. This is for track work.





TfL Rail


Trains will not run on the entire line. This is while Network Rail carry out track and station improvements as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan, as well as Crossrail construction work. 

There is no service between Brentwood and Shenfield until late May. This is while Network Rail carry out major work at Shenfield to upgrade tracks, signalling and overhead lines.

Buses


Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination: 

Strand Underpass - Until late April, the underpass is closed and bus route 521 will be diverted. This is for maintenance work on behalf of Westminster City Council. 

Tolworth - Until late April, the slip roads on Hook Rise North (A3 Kingston bypass) at the junction of Tolworth underpass are closed at various times between 22:00 and 05:00 each night. This is for resurfacing works. 

Balham - From 07:00 on Saturday until 19:00 on Sunday, a contraflow will be in place in both directions on Balham High Road between Marius Road and Upper Tooting Park. This is for a crane operation. 

Central London - From midday until 17:30 on Saturday, roads including Gower Street, New Oxford Street, St Giles High Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Charing Cross Road, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Parliament Square will be busier than usual and may also be subject to closures. This is for a demonstration. 

Hanger Lane - From 22:00 on Monday until 05:00 on Tuesday, and between the same times each night until 23 March, various lane restrictions will be in place in all directions on North Circular Road at the Hanger Lane roundabout. This is for junction improvement works.

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend: 

Strand Underpass - Until late April, the underpass is closed. This is for maintenance work on behalf of Westminster City Council. 

Tolworth - Until late April, the slip roads on Hook Rise North (A3 Kingston bypass) at the junction of Tolworth underpass are closed at various times between 22:00 and 05:00 each night. This is for resurfacing works. 

Balham - From 07:00 on Saturday until 19:00 on Sunday, a contraflow will be in place in both directions on Balham High Road between Marius Road and Upper Tooting Park. This is for a crane operation. 

Central London - From midday until 17:30 on Saturday, roads including Gower Street, New Oxford Street, St Giles High Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Charing Cross Road, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Parliament Square will be busier than usual and may also be subject to closures. Santander Cycles


The following docking stations will be out of service this weekend:
Rodney Street, Bourne Street, Cardinal Place, South Quay West and Foley Street, for building works
Westfield Eastern Access Road, for site redevelopment
Wellington Street, for site extension
