Museum of Brands - Easter at the Museum 🐣Lunchtime Talks for Groups ☕ Summer Parties Venue 🎉

Curator's Highlights: Spring at the Museum

The Marmite Food Company was founded in 1902 in Burton-on-Trent, an area where yeast was readily available for the town’s brewers. It was first invented in the late 19th century by a German scientist called Justus von Liebig who discovered that brewer’s yeast could be concentrated, bottled and eaten. Marmite was originally sold in pots made from earthenware up until the 1920s when glass jars of similar shapes were designed.
For decades Marmite has created a divide amongst the world, and even become a metaphor for something that polarises opinion. You either love it or you hate it! Come see Marmite commemorated on our mural and learn about all your favourite brands on your next visit by purchasing tickets here

"There was so much more than I expected - as well as packaging there are toys, posters, books, games, artefacts... It's a great place to learn about history and indulge in nostalgia... I liked the handwritten visitor postcards sharing the brands that got us through lockdown" -Heather P, TripAdvisor Review

"This was such an interesting session to attend! Thanks for hosting such an inspiring and informative workshop" - Xabier C, Living Brands Dementia Training Participant, Instagram Review
