On Sunday at 2am the clocks will go back an hour, moving us from British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time.
Putting the clocks backwards and forwards was originally suggested by Benjamin Franklin in 1784. However, after much debate, it wasn't implemented in Britain until 1916 when the Summer Time Act was passed.
Nowadays our devices with internet connection update the time automatically, but back in 1916 the government was concerned that people would damage clocks by forcing the hands backwards!
