Now Play This: A Weekend of Games and Play

New Wing
A weekend of games and play, showcasing over 20 games that you can play, plus enjoy a programme of talks and special events. Opportunities to play come in the form of simple paper games such as Alleyback and Through the Eye of the Snake, to new digital adventures Fluc and Line Wobbler, as well as a wooden pinball table, an enormous piece of crumpled paper, a board game lounge and more.

London Design Festival

Established in 2003, the London Design Festival has attained a reputation as one of the largest and most innovative design events in the world. This year, Somerset House will be home to a number of projects and become a prominent new destination for Festival visitors. See the winning entries from a competition with Twitter, an exhibition of 10 major international designers including Alex Rasmussen, Nendo, Faye Toogood and Ross Lovegrove, and much more.

Bridget Riley: Learning from Seurat

The Courtauld Gallery, North Wing
In 1959 Bridget Riley painted a copy of Georges Seurat’s Bridge at Courbevoie, one of the highlights of The Courtauld Gallery. This experience represented a significant breakthrough for Riley, offering her a new understanding of colour and perception. This seminal moment of artistic discovery is the springboard for this special display.

BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum: Children’s Writers

At this special showcase of emerging children’s writers, industry guests – including screenwriter Diane Whitley (House of Anubis, World’s End, Evermoor) and Executive Producer Lucy Martin (The Dumping Ground, Wolfblood) – will be critiquing three scripts performed live by professional actors.
