Weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 8-9 October. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you.





London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.

Circle line
There will be no service on the entire line while we test new signalling and replace track at Mansion House.

District line
Trains will not run between Embankment and Dagenham East. This is to allow us to test new signalling, replace track at Mansion House and Barking, as well as Crossrail construction work at Whitechapel.

Hammersmith & City line
There will be no service between Liverpool Street and Barking while we test new signalling and replace track at Barking, as well as Crossrail construction work at Whitechapel.




London Overground


This weekend, there will be no service between the following stations:
 After 11:15 on Saturday and all day on Sunday between Romford and Upminster, for Crossrail and Network Rail infrastructure work
 Highbury & Islington and Shadwell and Surrey Quays and New Cross, for Crossrail construction work at Whitechapel
 
On Sunday, trains will not run between the following stations:
 Liverpool Street and Enfield Town/Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters)/Chingford, until 10:15, for Network Rail track work
 Kilburn High Road and Euston, until 12:00, for Network Rail track work
 New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace/West Croydon after 22:45, for Thameslink work
 
From Monday until Thursday, there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town/Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) after 22:45, for Network Rail track work. 

There is no service between Gospel Oak and Barking until February 2017. This is while Network Rail carry out major works to enable new, longer trains to run from 2018. For more information, please click here

DLR


There will be no service between West Ham and Woolwich Arsenal. This is for track work.





TfL Rail


On Saturday from 11:15 and all day Sunday there will be no service between Stratford and Shenfield. This is while Network Rail carry out track and station improvements as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan, as well as Crossrail construction work.

Buses


Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination: 

Chelsea - From 20:00 until 06:00 each night, the following road closures will be in place: tonight, Thursday/Friday, Gunter Grove will be closed northbound between Edith Terrace and Fulham Road. Finborough Road will also be closed northbound on the following nights: Sunday/Monday, between Fulham Road and Redcliffe Place; Monday/Tuesday, between Redcliffe Place and Cathcart Road; Tuesday/Wednesday, between Cathcart Road and Redcliffe Street; Wednesday/Thursday, between Redcliffe Street and Ifield Road. This is for road resurfacing works. 

Wembley - From 14:00 until 23:00 on Saturday, roads around the stadium will be busier than usual, including the A406, Harrow Road and Wembley High Road. This is due to an event. 

Twickenham - From 16:30 until 22:30 on Saturday, a sporting event is taking place at Twickenham stadium. Roads in the area will be busier than usual, including A316 Chertsey Road, all roads leading to Twickenham Station, and around the stadium. London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed before and after the event. 

Central London - From midnight until 15:00 on Sunday, various road closures will be in place in the area. This is for an event. For more information, please visit tfl.gov.uk/royalparkshalfmarathon 

Reminder - Tower Bridge - Until Friday 30 December, Tower Bridge is closed to all traffic while the City of London Corporation carry out major essential maintenance works. Roads in and around the area will be busier than usual. A signed diversion route is in place, via London Bridge northbound and via Southwark Bridge southbound. Bus routes RV1 and 78 will on diversion and route 42 is terminating near the south side of Tower Bridge. It is open to pedestrians for all but three weekends. Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:

 South Quay West, Wansey Street and High Holborn, for building works
 Upper Richmond Road for electrical installations
 Speakers’ Corner 1 & 2 and Cumberland Gate for civil works
 Westfield Eastern Access Road for site development
 Panton Street, for an event
