Princess Astrid of Norway has turned on the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree lights to bring the fesitve spirit to central London. The tree is a gift from Norway, who offer it as a token of friendship - as they have been doing since the end of the second world war. It's the 69th time a spruce has been gifted by the Scandinavians, and its beautiful lights certainly stand out during the dark winter evenings.
