Hedgehog footprints

Success in the quest for hedgehog footprints!

Our hedgehog footprint tunnels have been turning up all sorts of perplexing wildlife prints, but London’s hedgehogs were proving elusive, until we struck gold in our Yeading Brook Meadows nature reserve!

These gorgeous prints are clear signs of a curious hedgehog, who has trotted into our baited tunnel and left behind a clear trail of footprints.

If you would like to join us in searching for London’s hedgehogs, you can place one of our free hedgehog detective kits in your own back garden. The tunnels are free, although numbers are limited. To apply for a kit, or to share a sighting of a London hedgehog, just visit our website

Wildlife threatened by Heathrow third runway

Yesterday the Government voted to build a third runway at Heathrow Airport, a plan long opposed by London Wildlife Trust.

As well as increasing carbon emissions and pollution, expanding Heathrow means building on the Green Belt, taking land from three important wildlife sites, destroying woodland, and affecting 13km of river.

While we are disappointed with this outcome, the Trust will continue to highlight the impact on wildlife of Heathrow's third runway.
