ELYTRA FILAMENT PAVILION 18 May – 6 November 2016 The John Madejski Garden
This major new garden commission created by experimental architects and engineers Achim Menges, Jan Knippers, Moritz Dรถrstelmann and Thomas Auer, is a pavilion inspired by the filament structures of the forewing shells of flying beetles, known as elytra. The installation takes the form of an undulating canopy structure composed of a network of tightly-woven carbon fibre cells, fabricated by a robot. Read more

The company is responsible for delivering the Thames Tideway Tunnel, a 25km ‘super sewer’ that will help tackle the tens of millions of tonnes of raw sewage that pours into the River Thames each year. | THE PINWHEEL PAVILION AT V&A MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD 10 June – 30 July 2016
The Pinwheel Pavilion, designed by London-based firm Five Line Projects, is open from 10 June in the V&A Museum of Childhood gardens. The project aims to engage the public and explore the potential energy that a single action triggers. Read more |
