New Year Fireworks in Central London 2011
Video Showing Last Years Show.
London.gov.uk - New Year's Eve: "On the night
Fireworks, music and Big Ben’s ‘bongs’
The Mayor’s midnight fireworks display by the Thames attracts huge crowds - usually around 250,000 people. Viewing areas fill up around 2-3 hours in advance, so arrive early.
An exclusive live DJ set from Radio 1’s Nihal will keep the crowds entertained pre and post the pyrotechnics, starting at 10pm.
You’ll also get to hear the famous Big Ben ‘bongs’ just before we launch the UK’s biggest annual fireworks display from the London Eye, alongside a tailor-made soundtrack.
Remember tickets are not required to view the fireworks. If you are offered or sold a ticket, please advise a steward or a police officer."

Logs to Burn in Winter Time -Poem
Logs to Burn
Logs to burn, logs to burn,
----------Another Variation---------------------Logs to save the coal a turn Here's a word to make you wise, When you hear the woodman's cries. Never heed his usual tale, That he has good logs for sale, But read these lines and really learn, the proper kind of logs to burn. OAK logs will warm you well, If they're old and dry. LARCH logs of pine wood smell, But the sparks will fly. BEECH logs for Christmas time, YEW logs heat well. SCOTCH logs it is a crime, For anyone to sell. BIRCH logs will burn too fast, CHESTNUT scarce at all HAWTHORN logs are good to last, If you cut them in the fall HOLLY logs will burn like wax You should burn them green ELM logs like smouldering flax No flame to be seen PEAR logs and APPLE logs, they will scent your room. CHERRY logs across the dogs, Smell like flowers in bloom But ASH logs, all smooth and grey, burn them green or old; Buy up all that come your way, They're worth their weight in gold. |
Beech-wood fires burn bright and clear If the logs are kept a year; Store your beech for Christmastide With new-cut holly laid beside; Chestnut's only good, they say, If for years 'tis stored away; Birch and fir-wood burn too fast Blaze too bright and do not last; Flames from larch will shoot up high, Dangerously the sparks will fly; But ash-wood green and ash-wood brown Are fit for a Queen with a golden crown. Oaken logs, if dry and old, Keep away the winter's cold; Poplar gives a bitter smoke, Fills your eyes and makes you choke; Elm-wood burns like churchyard mould, E'en the very flames are cold; Hawthorn bakes the sweetest bread - So it is in Ireland said; Apple-wood will scent the room, Pear-wood smells like flowers in bloom; But ash-wood wet and ash-wood dry A King may warm his slippers by. |

Mulled Wine Recipe! Yum Yum
Mulled Wine Recipe
Ingredients
2 bottles of medium-bodied red wine
1 cup sugar and more to taste
6 cinnamon sticks
15 cloves
grated nutmeg
2 oranges
1 cup sugar and more to taste
6 cinnamon sticks
15 cloves
grated nutmeg
2 oranges
Push the cloves into the skin of the oranges, then cut the oranges in half. Pour the wine into a large stainless steel or enamel saucepan and warm over a medium heat. Add the sugar, spices and clove studded oranges. Keep an eye on the wine and turn the heat to very low as soon as it gets close to simmering. You don’t want it to boil or it will lose its alcohol content! Taste for sugar and add more until it tastes right for you. Keep it steaming over a low heat for an hour or so to allow the spices to infuse. Ladle it into glasses or mugs and breathe in the spicy aroma.
Other things you can add to mulled wine:
Star anise, bay leaves, mace, ginger, cardamom, lemon, lime, brandy.

Our turkeys are a special slow growing traditional breed and are raised to
full adult maturity (hence 5kg starting weight). Fully mature turkeys have the
benefit of a deliciously dense meat, along with a natural fat layer under the
skin which helps retain moisture whilst cooking – succulence without the need
for basting! In December, turkeys are dry-plucked by hand & game-hung for
at least two weeks in the centuries-old way. This enables the rich, traditional
flavour to develop fully, ensuring the finest taste & texture for Christmas
day.
