Since graduating from my Master's degree in English Literature, I wanted to continue enriching my knowledge of arts and culture, and Burgh House strongly appealed as a place to do so for its varied exhibitions and rich history. I enjoy learning about all exhibitions at the museum, however Hampstead's modernist history has particularly taken my interest since I started volunteering here in September. My own love of modernist literature allows for a great appreciation of the art that accompanies it, and of course the social and intellectual history that surrounds Hampstead. ZSL - Meet two new arrivals at our Zoos!

 

A special delivery at London Zoo! Just in time for Christmas, Kiburi, a Western lowland gorilla, has a new home at London Zoo. Global logistics experts DHL Express flew the whopping 193kg silverback to London from Zoo Loro Parque in Tenerife as part of an international breeding programme for the Critically Endangered species.  See Kiburi and the rest of our gorilla troop during a festive visit to London Zoo! Whipsnade Zoo's towering new arrival We're also delighted to share a six-foot-tall baby giraffe, Wilfred, was born on Remembrance Day at Whipsnade Zoo. He's been named after the renowned World War One poet Wilfred Owen and is currently sharing some precious private bonding time with mum Luna and dad Bashu, before the not-so-little one meets the rest of the herd next week. Opera Holland Park - The Christmas Concert is approaching

 

The Christmas Concert is approaching Saturday 3 December at 7.30pm Join us at St Mary Abbots Church, Kensington Church Street, for a festive celebration, led by the Opera Holland Park Chorus. Featuring soloists, carols, Christmas favourites and a post-show drink, it is not an evening to be missed. Tickets cost £25 and include a festive post-show drink. This concert is being held to raise vital funds for our work on stage and in the community, which remains central to our mission as an unsubsidised company. We will also be taking donations of new and unused clothing, food and toiletries for Refettorio Felix. At this time, they are particularly looking for warm anoraks, ski jackets, puffer jackets and sleeping bags, as well as specific items that can be found below We look forward to celebrating the beginning of the festive season with you.
