Winter Past at Museum of the Home🎄

Winter Past is now open

Rooms Through Time | On view from 19 November 2024 - Sunday 12 January 2025

Winter has officially arrived at Museum of the Home! You’re invited to explore our festive period rooms, redressed every year to reveal how people have gathered, celebrated and kept warm at home through the ages.

Journey through time and immerse yourself in history—from a joyful Midwinter Celebration in 1630 and Twelfth Night in 1830, to Midnight Mass in 1956 and a futuristic New Year’s Eve in 2049. You’ll encounter familiar winter customs from the past four centuries, as well as discover how traditions can evolve as our experiences and definitions of Home change.

Haven’t had a chance to visit our new Rooms Through Time yet? This year, the Museum’s newest refurbished period rooms spanning from 1878 to 2049 will debut original stories of the winter season. This is your chance to discover stories of home as experienced by our East London communities, now in a more immersive and interactive gallery.
