Heatherwick Studio: Designing the Extraordinary is the first major solo exhibition exploring the work of one of the most inventive design studios practicing today. Bringing together over 150 objects of inspiration and material samples, models, prototypes, full-scale fragments and finished pieces, the exhibition reveals the creative processes and spirit of curiosity of Thomas Heatherwick and his studio through 20 years of projects.

This crown was one of many made to decorate the procession route for the coronation of Edward VII, which never took place because his abdication in 1936. It was used instead for the coronation of George VI in 1937 and again for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

Kim Wilkie: Led by the Land Monday 18 June, 19.00-20.45 V&A Evening Lecture
Kim Wilkie is one of Britain’s most respected landscape and urban designers. He has worked all over the world restoring and redesigning landscapes, using the past to inspire fresh design in the contours of the land. Winner of the international competition to redesign the V&A’s John Madejski Garden, Kim will return to the Museum to discuss his life and work, and provide an insight into his future projects.

Fashion at the V&A Shop
Fashion and style have been central to the V&A since the very beginning and with the reopening of our Fashion gallery and opening of Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950, fashion has never been more important.
In conjunction with all these exciting events, we have opened adedicated Fashion Shop within the Fashion gallery, which houses a fitting room and will focus on trend driven accessories and exclusive fashion. We are stocking a small range inspired by Ballgowns, specially created vest and dress inspired by 60s fashion photography as well as featuring our renowned titles on fashion and textiles.
