Christmas Past - Geffrye 2010
Christmas Past offers visitors a fascinating insight into how Christmas has been celebrated in English middle-class homes from 1600 to the present day. Each year, authentic festive decorations transform the museum's eleven period rooms, creating a vivid and evocative picture of how earlier generations of Londoners celebrated Christmas. The rooms provide the perfect setting for visitors to explore the origins of some of the rich and colourful traditions of Christmases past, from feasting, dancing and kissing under the mistletoe to playing parlour games, hanging up stockings, sending cards, decorating the tree and throwing cocktail parties.
Throughout the exhibition, festive food will be served in the restaurant and visitors can hunt for original gifts, decorations, cards and books in the Shop

Leadenhall Christmas lights Friday 19th Nov 2010 at 5.30pm
In the heart of the City, Leadenhall is a thriving retail centre with a wide range of goods on sale. Its cobbled walkways and glass roof make it an attractive place to shop, eat and drink or simply to relax.
The market is located to the south of Leadenhall Street between Gracechurch Street and Lime Street. The nearest underground stations are Bank and Monument.

The 2010 Lord Mayor's Show will be on Saturday 13 November at 11am

The Lord Mayor's Show is one of the longest established and best known annual events in London which dates back to 1535. The Lord Mayor in question is that of the City of London, the historic centre of London that is now the metropolis's financial district, informally known as the Square Mile. A new Lord Mayor is appointed every year and the public parade that is made of his inauguration reflects the fact that this was once one of the most prominent offices in England. The ancient position of Lord Mayor of the City of London has a role in the Square Mile, whilst the Mayor of London (which has existed only since 2000) is a different individual entirely, namely the elected head of the Greater London Authority.
The event is a street parade which in its modern form is a fairly light-hearted combination of traditional British pageantry and elements of carnival. On the day after being sworn in, the Lord Mayor and several others participate in a procession from the City of London to the Royal Courts of Justice in the City of Westminster, where the Lord Mayor swears his allegiance to the Crown.

The display includes more than half a tonne of giant fireworks, some of which shoot over 600ft into the sky before exploding, and takes a team of eight pyrotechnicians two days to set it all up.
It's one of London's most spectacular annual displays, and you'll be able to see the fireworks for miles, but for the best view of all head down to Victoria Embankment. The road will be closed to traffic this year so there's plenty of room. You can also see from Blackfriars or Waterloo bridges but there is much less space there and the police will be moving people on to keep traffic moving both on the road and the pavement. To avoid disappointment, head for the riverside.
The City of London police have prepared a helpful map showing where to aim for, along with first aid points, stations and toilets. This is the 2007 version but so far it is still valid: if a new one is issued it will only be a day or two before the Show. The changes are likely to be few. Marylebone Christmas Lights 17th November 2010
This is the Christmas Lights event that we always attend, we give this 10 out of 10 and is not to be missed
Every year Marylebone Village hosts a Christmas Lights event to celebrate the switch on of its Christmas decorations. Organised by The Howard de Walden Estate, this is a fantastic community event packed with crowds coming to watch the switch on. The event is a true village affair with local retailers and residents working together to make the evening a success.
The event starts at 3.30pm with activities taking place until 6.30pm. Most of the activity is focused around the main stage on Marylebone High Street where the switch on takes place at 6pm. This year we will be supporting the charity Young Minds, the voice for young people’s mental health and well-being.

Battersea Park - Saturday 6 November 2010 Fireworks
Lets hope the weather is better than yesterday!
The Battersea Park Fireworks Display is produced by Wandsworth Council's Events Team.
Pyrotechnic content is designed by the internationally renowned Pains Fireworks www.painsfireworks.co.uk.
Ticketing and stewarding is managed by Events Group.
Policing is managed by Wandsworth Parks Police and Metropolitan Police (Wandsworth Borough).
Timings
- 6pm - gates, bar, food court and glow products open
- 7.30pm - bonfire lit
- 8pm - fireworks
Food
A large food court and bar will be open from 6pm to fulfil all of your food desires, choose to buy from an international bbq, noodle bar, Mexican, hot dogs and burgers, roasted chestnuts, toffee apples, candy floss, jacket potatoes, vegetarian feast and speciality sausage stall.
Drink
Mulled wine and beer can be purchased at the bar.
Soft drinks and hot drinks can be purchased from the food trailers.
Tickets
On the night
Tickets £6, children aged under 10 £1.

Prepare for a magical Christmas this year, when the wondrous world of Narnia comes to Regent Street. Celebrating the eagerly anticipated release of the 3-D family blockbuster movie, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER, the Regent Street Christmas lights will be a sight to behold for all the family
On Tuesday 9 November 2010 from 5pm there will be fun and entertainment aplenty, culminating with the countdown to the all-important switch-on moment when the skies will be lit to herald the start of the Christmas season. Hosted by Jamie Theakston & Harriet Scott from London’s Heart 106.2, the full line-up of stars attending the event will include Joe McElderry, performing his new single 'Someone Wake Me Up', Jersey Boys and the West End Gospel Choir.
