Stars and Stripes We are delighted to announce that Oni the okapi has given birth to a healthy baby girl at ZSL London Zoo.      The second-time mum, whose lockdown pregnancy took centre stage in the first episode of our ITV documentary, London Zoo: An Extraordinary Year, went into labour late on Sunday 20 September before giving birth to the adorable calf the following morning.         After spotting that Oni was in labour, dedicated keepers kept a watchful eye overnight on CCTV - rejoicing when tiny hooves and stripy legs began to emerge following a 12-hour vigil. The wide-eyed calf - given the name ‘Ede’ by zookeepers – took its first wobbly steps minutes later and was tottering around confidently soon after.       Already a feisty young calf, Ede has been bouncing happily around the stables but won’t be on show to visitors until Oni feels that she is ready to explore their lush outdoor paddocks. But don’t worry – we will let you know as soon as you can meet her in person.     For now, follow Oni’s story by catching up with Episode 1 of London Zoo: An Extraordinary Year on the ITV Hub now, and remember to watch episode 2 when it is broadcast live on ITV, Thursday 1 October.    MEET EDE

Unfinished Business: The Fight for Women’s Rights Opens 23 October 2020, now on sale £15 | £7.50 under 26s and concessions | Members go free Journey through over 200 years of the fight for women's rights in the UK with our new exhibition, Unfinished Business: The Fight for Women’s Rights. A first edition of Mary Wollstonecraft’s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman published in 1792. Records of state surveillance of Suffragette Sophia Duleep Singh. The Lesbian Custody Charter drafted in the 1970s. The No More Page 3 campaign T-shirt worn by Caroline Lucas in the House of Commons. Just some of the ground-breaking items that chart the many ways women have shaped the fight for progress over the last few centuries.   Campaign placards and banners adorn the walls while artworks, personal diaries and protest fashion amplify the voices behind the women’s rights movement. Meet those at the forefront of today’s fight as we introduce you to activist groups aiming to make a fairer world for everyone – from ending period poverty to getting more women into science. The fight for women’s rights is unfinished business. Where will it go next? Add your own voice to this debate when the exhibition opens on 23 October. We’re limiting the numbers in all our spaces, including our galleries and Reading Rooms, and have implemented a one-way system throughout the Library to help you keep a safe distance. This may take a little longer but it’s keeping everyone safe. You must wear a face covering in all areas of the Library. If you’re exempt please let a member of staff know. Our toilets are open with regular, enhanced cleaning. We’ll be frequently cleaning our spaces, especially high touch points. Please ensure you wash your hands frequently and use our hand sanitisers where available. We’ve removed a few interactive elements in our exhibitions to reduce contact. Don’t worry, there’s still plenty to see.

If you can’t attend, we’ll reschedule your visit In the event of future closures or if you need to cancel your visit due to COVID-19, we’ll offer you alternative dates if available. If you can no longer attend please cancel your booking so we can offer the tickets to other visitors.
