Pioneering Postwoman

Did you know that postwomen weren't allowed to wear trousers until 1941? For Women's History Month we're sharing the story of a pioneering Scottish postwoman, Jean Cameron, who changed the uniform game and even had a style of trousers named after her.

P.S. Planning on visiting us this International Women's Day? Our Deputy Curator Georgina will be hosting talks on Dorothy Wilding and Enid Marx, creators of the first stamp of Queen Elizabeth II.

When? 8 March at 11am and 3pm. Talks are drop-in and included with museum entry.
