Weekend travel information   Dear Mr Grantham, If you have somewhere to be this weekend, there are plenty of ways to get to your destination. The information in this email could change, so please check before you travel or use our TfL Go app to plan your journey.

London Underground

Central line The following closures are due to track work. Friday 25 into Saturday 26 September No service between Marble Arch and Loughton/Hainault via Newbury Park during Friday Night Tube Use alternative Night Tube services or Night Bus routes. Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September  No service between Liverpool Street and Woodford/Newbury Park, including during Saturday Night Tube Use alternative Tube services or local/replacement bus routes.

Piccadilly line Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September No service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge, including during Friday and Saturday Night Tube Piccadilly line services will still run between Acton Town and Heathrow. For journeys between central London and Heathrow, use the Elizabeth line. For journeys between Cockfosters and Uxbridge, use alternative Tube or London Overground services, or local/replacement bus routes. This is due to Piccadilly line upgrade work.

London Overground

- - - Lioness line Sunday 27 September No service between Euston and Kilburn High Road until 12:00 and after 20:30 Use Tube services or local bus routes. This is due to Network Rail maintenance work.

- - - Mildmay line The following closures are due to Network Rail maintenance work. Thursday 24 September No westbound service from Camden Road to Willesden Junction after 23:45 Use Tube services or local bus routes. Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September No southbound service from Willesden Junction to Shepherd's Bush until 06:15 each morning Use local bus routes. Sunday 27 September No service between Camden Road and Stratford after 22:15 Use Tube services or local/replacement bus routes.

- Weaver - Weaver line The following closures are due to Network Rail maintenance work. Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town/Cheshunt Use Tube services or local/replacement bus routes. If you are travelling to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, use the Victoria line from Seven Sisters or Tottenham Hale, or use Greater Anglia services to/from Northumberland Park station. Sunday 27 September No service between Liverpool Street and Chingford until 10:15 Use Tube services or local/replacement bus routes. Monday 28 September until Thursday 1 October No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:45 each night Use Tube services or local/replacement bus routes.

- Windrush - Windrush line Sunday 27 September No service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction until 09:00 Windrush line services will call at Battersea Park instead of Clapham Junction. Use local bus routes or Southern Railway trains between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction. This is due to Network Rail maintenance work.

DLR

Sunday 27 September No service between Tower Gateway and Shadwell Use Tube or Windrush line services, or local bus routes. This is due to third party works.

Elizabeth line

The following closures are due to Network Rail maintenance work. Sunday 27 September No service between West Drayton and Maidenhead until 09:00 Use national rail services or local/replacement bus routes.  Reduced service between Paddington and Maidenhead/Heathrow after 08:15

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes over the weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Friday 25 until Sunday 27 September Central London There will be extensive road closures and bus diversions within and around the royal parks on Friday and Saturday, and across central London on Sunday for multiple sporting events, including a 10k run on Sunday. On Friday, road closures will be in place around St James' Park from 04:00 and 06:00 for the rest of the day, with additional road closures around Green Park from 08:00 until 16:00 on Saturday.  On Sunday, road closures will be in place from 07:00 until 13:30 from The Mall to Spur Road via Trafalgar Square and roads through Holborn, City of London and Westminster. Saturday 26 September Central London From 12:00 until 17:00, marches will take place from Marble Arch to Wellington Arch via Park Lane, and from Embankment to Trafalgar Square via Whitehall, Bridge Street, Victoria Embankment and Northumberland Avenue. Large crowds and delays are expected. Sunday 27 September West London From 06:00 until 13:00, extensive road closures will be in place across west London for a half-marathon event starting at 09:00. Until late 2026 Brixton Hill From Monday 28 September, temporary traffic signals will be in place on Brixton Hill. Lane restrictions remain in place on the A23 between the junction with Holmewood Road on Brixton Hill and the junction with Tierney Road on Streatham Hill until late 2026. Delays are expected during these works, which are part of our ongoing work to deliver a new road layout on the A23 Streatham Hill.  If you are travelling in the local area, consider walking or cycling where possible. If you need to drive, allow more time for your journey and check before you travel, as journeys may take longer than usual. If you're using the A23 for long distance journeys but not stopping in the area, consider using the A24 or A3 instead.  For more information, visit our Streatham Hill works webpage.  From Wednesday 30 September A41 Brent Cross flyover In October and November, the A41 Brent Cross and surrounding roads will have lane restrictions and full overnight closures on the following dates while we carry out essential safety works: From 22:00 on Wednesday 30 September until 05:00 the following morning, the A406 North Circular Road will be closed westbound after the exit slip to Brent Cross interchange. Traffic will be diverted via Brent Cross interchange to rejoin the A406 From Thursday 1 until Wednesday 28 October, lane restrictions will be in place on the A41 Hendon Way From Thursday 1 October until Friday 20 November, lane restrictions will be in place on the A406 North Circular Road westbound through the Brent Cross interchange From 22:00 until 05:00 each night on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October, the A41 Hendon Way southbound will be closed from Vivian Avenue junction to The Vale junction From 22:00 until 05:00 each night on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 October, the A41 Hendon Way northbound will be closed from The Vale junction to Vivian Avenue junction From Thursday 29 October until Friday 20 November, there will be a contraflow system on the A41 flyover. Traffic will continue to run in both directions, but with reduced road space There will be signed diversions for all closures. Journeys on the A41 Hendon Way, A406 North Circular and surrounding roads will take longer during these works.  If you're travelling through the area, walk, cycle or use public transport where possible. Use the M25 for longer journeys around London where appropriate, and allow more time for your journey.  Buses will continue to serve the Brent Cross area, but some journeys may take longer because of traffic delays and reduced road space. Some buses may follow diversions during overnight closures.  Plan ahead, allow more time for your journey and check before you travel. Friday 2 October until Monday 2 November A40 Westway There will be a series of weekend directional closures on the A40 Westway between the Westway Roundabout and the Marylebone Flyover on the following dates with signed diversions in place:  From 22:00 on Friday 2 until 05:00 on Monday 5 October - eastbound closure From 22:00 on Friday 23 until 05:00 on Sunday 25 October - westbound closure From 22:00 on Friday 30 October until 05:00 on Monday 2 November - westbound closure If poor weather conditions prevent our work, there will be an additional eastbound closure on the weekend of Friday 16 October.  Following these closures, the eastbound carriageway and two westbound lanes will re-open. This is due to ongoing lane restrictions in place following a bus fire. These works are part of an ongoing programme of renewals to ensure the A40 remains safe and reliable for all road users.  For more information, visit our Westway webpage.
