BBC Shows and Tours - Join the BBC Symphony Orchestra in concert at the famous Maida Vale Studios

Shows Header
BBC Symphony Orchestra

This is your chance to come and experience the BBC Symphony Orchestra in concert at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios.

The French composer, pianist and teacher Louise Farrenc (1804-1875) enjoyed a considerable reputation during her own lifetime. But her music is almost unknown in the UK, unlike that of her compatriot Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). Fauré's Pelléas et Mélisande Suite is derived from the music he wrote for the London production of Maurice Maeterlinck's tragic play in 1898.
And there’s music by the famous Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) his famously romantic Piano Concerto and two movements of his incidental music for Ibsen’s play, Peer Gynt.

The French conductor François Leleux and BBC Radio 3 Generation Artist Elizabeth Brauss (piano) make their debuts with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. And the concert is presented by Natasha Riordan.

Programme:
Louise Farrenc Overture No. 1 Op.23
Edvard Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor Op16
Gabriel Fauré Pelléas et Mélisande Suite Op.80
Edvard Grieg The Death of Åse & In the Hall of the Mountain King from Peer Gynt

Elisabeth Brauss piano
François Leleux conductor
Natasha Riordan presenter

25 years after it first opened, BBC Two is giving audiences an insight into the inner workings of the iconic Channel Tunnel and the people who keep it running. This is your chance to get a sneak peak of the programme before it airs!

On the eve of Brexit, The Channel Tunnel - Life On The Inside explores what it takes to run an undersea transport system that sees more than 20 million passengers every year and at its peak has a train running every three minutes.

As the journey unfolds, we meet the trains’ unusual cargo - from prize-winning Crufts dogs and hopeful racehorse owners, to supercars on their way to Le Mans and the sisters travelling to Belgium to stock up on wedding wine.
