Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 16 and 17 March, and the following week. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go. Please check if any of the following affect you. London Underground Circle line On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March, there will be no service between Paddington and Hammersmith. This is due to line modernisation work. Use alternative Tube and local bus routes. Hammersmith & City line On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March, there will be no service between Paddington and Hammersmith. London Overground Tonight, Thursday 14 March, there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) after 22:45. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run. On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March, there will be no service between Romford and Upminster. This is due to Crossrail construction work. Use local bus routes 165, 248 or 370. On Sunday 17 March, there will be no service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction. This is due to Network Rail track work. Trains to / from Clapham Junction are diverted to / from Battersea Park. Use local buses or Southern services between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction. On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March, there will be a reduced service between Gospel Oak and Barking. Trains will run about every 30 minutes. For weekend train times, check our Journey Planner on the day of travel. A reduced weekend service will continue on this route until further notice due to a lack of available trains. From Monday 18 March, there will be a reduced weekday service between Gospel Oak and Barking. Trains will run about every 30 minutes. On Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 March, there will be no southbound service from Sydenham to West Croydon after 23:45 each evening. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use local buses. London Trams On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March, there will be no service between Sandilands and Birkbeck / Elmers End. This is due to ballast and track replacement work. Tram replacement buses will run between East Croydon and Birkbeck / Elmers End. TfL Rail On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Shenfield. This is due to Crossrail and track renewal works. Rail replacement buses will run between Stratford and Romford, and between Chadwell Heath and Shenfield, also stopping at Newbury Park. On Sunday 17 March, there will be no service between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 until 07:30. This is due to Crossrail work. Use local buses or the Piccadilly line for Heathrow. Emirates Air Line Until Sunday 17 March, Emirates Air Line will be closed. This is due to annual maintenance work. See an overview of planned track closures for the next six months. Buses and roads Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination. A501 Euston Road - From 22:00 until 05:00 on both Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 March there will be closures in both directions on A501 Euston Road at the junctions with Judd Street and Midland Road. These junctions will be closed eastbound on Monday 18 and closed westbound on Tuesday 19. Lane closures will be in place up to two hours before these directional closures. Traffic will be diverted but delays are expected. You are advised to seek alternative routes where possible. These works are to complete the Judd Street cycle route scheme. Marylebone - From 09:30 on Friday 15 until Monday 18 March, lane three westbound on Marylebone Road will be closed between Luxborough Street and Chiltern Street. This is for Cadent Gas works. Westminster - From 11:00 until 16:00 on Friday 15 March, there may be various road closures or traffic holds between Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square via Whitehall. This is due to a demonstration. Central London - From 12:00 until 16:00 on Saturday 16 March, there will be two marches and a demonstration through central London, both ending at 16:00. Up to 3,500 people will form up at Park Lane and at 13:00 will march to Richmond Terrace via Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly, Haymarket, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street and Whitehall. At the same time, up to 1,000 people will march from Paddington Green to Richmond Terrace via Harrow Road, Edgware Road, Marble Arch, Oxford Street, Regent Street, Haymarket, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street and Whitehall. Both marches will end at approximately 14:30, and a rally will be held at Richmond Terrace until 16:00. Some bus routes will be diverted along the marching route or stop short of their destination. Twickenham Stadium - From 16:00 until 22:00 on Saturday 16 March, Twickenham Stadium will host the Six Nations rugby match between England and Scotland, with kick off at 17:00. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected in the Twickenham area. Roads likely to be affected include the A316 Chertsey Road, all roads leading to Twickenham station and roads surrounding the stadium. Westminster - From 07:00 until 22:00 on Sunday 17 March, there will be various road closures and restrictions across the Westminster area. From 07:00 until 22:00, the east side of Trafalgar Square will have a single lane closure and Pall Mall East will be closed. From 09:30 until 14:30, Piccadilly eastbound will be closed between Hyde Park Corner and Half Moon Street. From 11:30 until 20:00, Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, Shaftesbury Avenue westbound from Cambridge Circus, Haymarket, Regent Street St James’s, Waterloo Place, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square and approaches, Whitehall and Whitehall Place will be closed. This is due to the St Patrick’s Day Parade. Fulham - From 08:00 on Monday 18 until 18:00 on Friday 22 March, Fulham Palace Road will be closed in both directions at the junction of Beryl Road near Charing Cross Hospital. A contra-flow will reduce the carriageway to a single lane in both directions. This is due to Thames Water works. West End - From Monday 18 March until Thursday 11 April, sections of Tottenham Court Road will be reduced to one lane while carriageway resurfacing works are completed. Bus route 144 will be on diversion and route 176 will be restricted at times. These works are to prepare for the switch to two-way traffic on Tottenham Court Road on the Easter bank holiday weekend. Sections of the new southbound lane on Tottenham Court Road will be for buses and cyclists only following the traffic switch. For more information, visit our travel advice page. Old Street - From Wednesday 20 March until mid-May, work to remove four traffic islands on the approach to the roundabout will take place every night between 20:30 and 05:30. This is in advance of main works to restore two-way traffic to Old Street, which are scheduled to start in late May. Delays are expected on approach to the roundabout. London Underground There are no planned closures on the Tube this weekend. See the latest status update on London Underground, including a map of closures. London Overground On Saturday 12 January, there will be an amended timetable between Gospel Oak and Barking. Trains will run every 15 to 30 minutes. On Sunday 13 January, there will be an amended timetable between Gospel Oak and South Tottenham until 15:30. Trains will run every 15 to 30 minutes. After 15:30, trains will run every 30 minutes between Gospel Oak and Barking. For weekend train times, check on the day of travel on our Status updates page. A reduced weekend service will continue on this route until further notice due to a lack of available trains. We will continue to run a full timetable on the busier weekday service. On Sunday 13 January, there will be no service between South Tottenham and Barking until 15:30. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use Victoria line or local bus services between Seven Sisters (for South Tottenham) and Walthamstow Central. Rail replacement buses will run between Walthamstow Central and Barking.   From Monday 14 until Thursday 17 January, there will be no service between:   • Sydenham and West Croydon after 22:15 each evening. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use Southern trains between Sydenham and Norwood Junction. Rail replacement buses will run between Norwood Junction and West Croydon   • Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:30 each evening. This is due to Network Rail track work. Rail replacement buses will run TfL Rail On Saturday 12 January after 21:00, there will be a reduced service between Paddington and Hayes & Harlington. This is due to Crossrail work.   On Sunday 13 January, there will be no service between:   • Paddington and Heathrow until 06:30. This is due to Crossrail work   • Liverpool Street and Romford. This is due to overhead line extension renewal and track work. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination. Westminster – From 12:00 until 15:30 on Saturday 12 January, there will be a march from Portland Place to Parliament Square via Langham Place, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall. The form up area outside the BBC will be closed, and the Metropolitan Police will enforce traffic holds along the route. Bus routes 3, 6, 7, 9, 12, 14, 19, 22, 38, 55, 73, 88, 94, 98, 113, 139, 159, 390, 453 and C2 will be diverted from 12:00 to avoid intersecting with the march route. Westminster – From 16:00 until 21:00 on Tuesday 15 January, Parliament Square and Abingdon Street will be closed. Bus routes 3, 87, 148 and 211 will be diverted during this time. This is due to a demonstration. Denmark Hill – Until 17:00 on Wednesday 27 February, there will be lane restrictions between Orpheus Street and Ashworth Close. This is due to building works. Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 24 and 25 November, and the following week. London Underground Metropolitan line On Sunday 25 November, there will be no service between Aldgate and Wembley Park before 09:30 and after 20:30. This is due to track replacement work. For travel between Baker Street and Wembley Park, use the Jubilee line. For travel between Baker Street and Aldgate, use the Circle line or Hammersmith & City line. London Overground From 20:00 tonight until tomorrow morning, Thursday 22 November, there will be no service between Romford and Upminster. Use local bus routes 165, 248 or 370 for travel between stations.   On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November:   • There will be no service between Hackney Wick and Stratford. From 16:15 on Sunday, there will be no service between Highbury & Islington and Stratford. This is due to Crossrail construction work. Rail replacement buses will run   • Due to a lack of available trains, there will be a reduced service between Gospel Oak and Barking. Trains will run every 15 to 30 minutes. The reduced weekend timetable will continue until the new electric trains are introduced. We will continue to run a full timetable on the busier weekday service. Supplementary buses will run between Gospel Oak and Seven Sisters (for South Tottenham) and also between Walthamstow Central and Barking. Please use the Victoria line to connect between the two supplementary bus services   Due to infrastructure work, on Sunday 25 November there will be no service between:   • Highbury & Islington and New Cross Gate (from 06:00), once the Night Service has ended, and between Surrey Quays and New Cross (all day). Use alternative London Overground trains between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Kingsland (until 16:15) or replacement buses between these stations (after 16:15). Rail replacement buses will also run between Dalston Kingsland and New Cross / New Cross Gate (all day). These buses will not serve Shadwell, Wapping or Rotherhithe. Use local buses for these stations   • Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction. Rail replacement buses will run   • Sydenham and Crystal Palace. Use local buses between these stations or Southern services between Crystal Palace and Norwood Junction   On Sunday 25 November, there will be a reduced service between New Cross Gate and West Croydon. Trains will run every 30 minutes until 20:00. From then, they will run every 30 to 60 minutes. Southern Railway will run a regular Sunday service between these stations all day. London Trams On Sunday 25 November, there will be no service between Reeves Corner and East Croydon in both directions until 09:00, and no trams to Elmers End until 09:40 due to infrastructure replacement work. Use local buses via any reasonable route. For Elmers End, use local bus 289 from Addiscombe or 356 from Birkbeck. TfL Rail On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Romford due to overhead line electrical renewal and track work. Rail replacement buses will run. On Sunday 25 November, there will be no service between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 2&3 until 06:10, due to Crossrail work. For Heathrow terminals, use the Piccadilly line. Alternatively, take bus route 105 from Southall or 140 from Hayes & Harlington. Waterloo – Until 17:00 on Sunday 9 December, Baylis Road will be closed southbound at the junction of Waterloo Road. This is due to electrical connection works. Local bus routes 59, 76 and 341 will be diverted. Hyde Park – Until 22:00 on Sunday 6 January 2019, large crowds are expected at Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Park Lane areas. This is due to the annual Winter Wonderland event which will be taking place at Hyde Park from 10:00 until 22:00 each day, except for Christmas Day. South Carriage Drive will be closed whenever crowds get too large. Twickenham Rugby Stadium – From 12:00 until 21:30 on Saturday 24 November, large crowds are expected in the Twickenham area. This is due to the rugby match between England and Australia, kicking off at 15:00. England Women will also play Ireland Women at 17:40. London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed before and after the game to assist with crowd control. Diversions will be implemented in the Twickenham area. Traffic levels are expected to increase in the area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected are the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium. Wembley Stadium – From 11:00 until 18:00 on Sunday 25 November, large crowds are expected in the Wembley area. This is due to the EE Wembley Cup, kicking off at 14:00. Traffic levels are expected to increase in the area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected are the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium. Wembley Stadium – From 17:00 until 23:59 on Wednesday 28 November, large crowds are expected in the Wembley area. This is due to the Champions League match between Tottenham and Inter Milan, kicking off at 20:00. Traffic levels are expected to increase in the area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected are the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium. Check whether your bus is affected. Roads Road users may be affected by the following this weekend: Rotherhithe Tunnel – There are increased restrictions for goods vehicles at Rotherhithe Tunnel. Goods vehicles that exceed these restrictions will be unable to access the tunnel and redirected by our enforcement officers. The maximum vehicle height is 2 metres (or 6’6”) and the weight limit is 2 tonnes. The width restriction is 2 metres (or 6’6”). Use Tower Bridge or Blackwall Tunnel, both of which are outside the Congestion Charging zone.
