This is a high impact colourful space, designed to be highly attractive to bees. A range of perennials create a blaze of colour and show how great bee-friendly gardens can look.

Hexagonal sculptures, representing honeycomb, give height, and handmade wicker bees buzz throughout the garden. A beautiful bench, set below a hand-carved wooden tablet, gives the visitor a place to sit and contemplate the garden.

A Quiet Corner invites the visitor to escape the hustle and bustle of busy life and take time to pause and enjoy the surroundings. The striking design features a curved swathe of grasses that follow a cobbled path to an enclosed seating area.

The shimmering grey wall creates a solid backdrop to the softness of the planting. Pewter tones in the wall are echoed in the soft grey cobbles that lead to two bespoke larch stools.

A low shallow steel water bowl provides reflections of the sky and native Acer campestre, creating a calm and peaceful focal point. Like a shadow, a crescent of low growing ground cover with contrasting textures spreads out from beneath the water bowl.

Jackie Knight Landscapes return to Tatton with a striking rock and water garden crafted from natural materials.

The trademark design features water tumbling over sandstone rocks into a small tranquil pool. The water recedes into the distance under a simple stone, slab bridge. The gentle sound of the water has been designed to attract and support wildlife. Rocks highlight the pool and a stone sitting area provides a restful place in which to dangle feet and quietly observe the wildlife. The grassy bank provides a relaxing site for a hammock in which to unwind and enjoy nature.

The majority of the planting around the pond is predominantly of moisture-loving perennials, kindly supplied by Pickmere Perennials. Alpines and heathers have been planted on the rock bank to complement the design.

Light is a source of energy that fuels all life; it is a constant that has evolved into a universal symbol of hope and inspiration. No matter where we are in the world, our experience of light unites us.

Light Catcher, sponsored by Marshalls Paving, BREMO Plants, Urbis Design, Artisan Plant Supports, Griple UK and Steeltech-Kinetix is a celebration of light and how it has evolved to become a universal symbol of hope and positivity. The garden harnesses natural daylight to create drama and ambience by using materials chosen for their reflective, diffusive and fluctuating qualities to create a contemplative and soothing space. The bold light-catching structure funnels sunlight down to a central reflective bowl of water and represents our collective and unifying understanding of light’s positive ‘language’.

Plants that react to light have been chosen; shimmering grasses such as Agrostis nebulosa,Briza media and Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Goldtau’ mix with taller, structural perennials such as Echinops bannaticus ‘Taplow Blue’ and Agastache ‘Blue Fortune’. The colour scheme focuses on iridescent purple and blue hues with sprays of white to create a haze of luminosity that laters and moves.

This is a garden room for a rural English country house garden, and links to other areas of the land. It is a space to walk and relax in, designed for glorious summer evenings catching the rays of the setting sun. It is inspired by a north Norfolk garden, which receives the last low level light, with its illuminating quality creating a warm glow across the planting. The posts and arches form an enclosure without dominating the space; they add formality. Trellis panels are used to balance the mass of the hedge on the opposite side, while framing a view into and out of the garden.

This conceptual garden, sponsored by the Optoelectronics Research Centre at University of Southampton, CED Ltd, SureSet UK Ltd, Dural Ltd, Barcham Trees plc and Grange Fencing Ltd, reflects the world-leading research into light-transmitting optical fibre by the University of Southampton.

The pavilion is a light-filled structure. Fibre optic glass 'drops' are set into the floor and the ‘wave-form’ path is a metaphor for how light refracts along the fibres. The trees, Sorbus aria‘Magnifica’ and the surrounding planting are in cool shades, building to a vibrant colour spectrum. Paler Hydrangea paniculata crescendo into bright plants such as Helenium‘Sahin’s Early Flowerer’.

Perennial – the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping people who work in horticulture when times get tough. Perennial has partnered with Glendale, Rollins Bulldog, Travis Perkins, Bradstone and internationally acclaimed, RHS Gold medal-winning garden designer Paul Hervey-Brookes, to create the Perennial Legacy Garden.

The garden is designed to reflect elements of a large English country estate. It features long herbaceous borders, a pavilion for relaxing and enjoying the garden, and a separate walled working garden with gardener’s bothy and nursery beds. The planting palette is a rich tapestry of traditional and contemporary herbaceous perennials, taking its inspiration from long mixed borders such as those at Arley Hall and Upton House.

The design demonstrates the important relationship that estate gardens have with their gardeners – those who work tirelessly to plant, train and maintain them – and Perennial’s foundations in 1839, which lie firmly in the great country gardens and estates of Great Britain. It also serves to highlight the unique role Perennial continues to play in helping all horticulturists in times of need. As well as reflecting the past, the garden looks to the future as Perennial launches its brand new Legacy Fundraising Strategy. Legacies are a joyful, life driven gift. This garden is a gift; an unconditional exemplar of teamwork from experts and professionals who have come together to support the charity that offers hope to an industry charged with keeping the UK green and beautiful for generations to come.
