Amit Eshel's award-winning photograph tells the story of two Nubian ibexes, locked in a fierce embrace during the run-up to mating season. During this time, rivals size each other up before raising onto their hind legs and ramming their heads together with an impact so powerful their horns have been known to break when they collide.
Amit’s photo was taken in the Zin Desert in Israel after a long hike to a clifftop vantage point. The battle lasted for about 15 minutes before one male surrendered and the pair parted without serious injury.
