WALTHAMSTOW: Village store short-listed for International Convenience Retailer of the Year award (From East London and West Essex Guardian Series): "A STORE in Walthamstow is in with a chance of being chosen as the best of its kind in the world.
The Spar in Orford Road, also known as The Village Stores and famous for its bacon jam, will be assessed alongside elite convenience stores across the globe, including the mighty Tesco in the USA, in a quest to find the International Convenience Retailer of the Year 2012.
Co-owner James Brundle said: "To be shortlisted for this prestigious award is this icing on the cake for what has been an amazing but challenging few years."
