Saints, sirens, sinners, spinsters, sickos and the enduring femme fatale – 1940s noir had big issues with female representation. If you love the style, but hate the vintage values of this most mesmerizing of decades, join author Helen Jacey for a talk at the historic Cinema Museum, where she will put some famous noir movies under the spotlight. Helen will share her process in creating Elvira Slate, the first fictional 1940s feminist detective and explore some of the challenges of reinventing the 1940s from a contemporary and female gaze. Buy Now The Kennington Bethlehem Link presents; Imprisoning a Generation (2018), Thursday 5th December @ 7:30pm The Kennington Bethlehem Link invite you to a screening of Imprisoning a Generation (2018), a documentary film by Zelda Edmunds following the stories of young Palestinians who have been imprisoned under the Israeli military and political systems. Their perspectives, along with the voices of their families, combine to form a lens into the entangled structures of oppression that expand well beyond the prison walls. Entrance free, donations on the night towards costs welcome.
