Transport for London - Weekend travel information - 7 and 8 December 2019

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 7 and 8 December, and the following week.

Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go. Please check if any of the following affect you.
 
 
 
London Underground
 
  
Circle line
On Sunday 8 December, there will be no service on the entire line until 10:00. This is due to line modernisation work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes. 
 
District line
On Sunday 8 December, there will be no service between Embankment and East Ham until 10:00. This is due to line modernisation work. Rail Replacement buses will run between Liverpool Street and Barking, and between Canning Town and Barking.
  
Hammersmith & City line
On Sunday 8 December, there will be no service between Baker Street and Barking until 10:00. This is due to line modernisation work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Liverpool Street and Barking, and between Canning Town and Barking.
 
Metropolitan line
On Sunday 8 December, there will be no service between Baker Street and Aldgate until 10:00. This is due to line modernisation work. Use alternative Tube or local bus routes.

London Overground
 

 
On Sunday 8 December, trains will not stop at Whitechapel station until 10:00 (including during Saturday Night Service). This is due to London Underground signalling work. Use local bus route 205 to/from Shoreditch High Street or D3 to/from Shadwell.

From Monday 9 until Thursday 12 December, there will be no westbound service from Camden Road to Willesden Junction after 23:59 each evening. This is due to Network Rail track work. Use local bus routes.
 
 
 
TfL Rail
 

 
On Sunday 8 December until 05:50 there will be no train service between Paddington and Heathrow T4. Please use local buses to continue your journey, and the Piccadilly line for Heathrow T4.

On Sunday 8 December from 05:50 until close of traffic, trains will run every 30 minutes to stations between Paddington and Heathrow T4. Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line or West Ealing.

This closure is to allow for overhead line enhancements, and Crossrail testing of trains.

Buses and roads
 

 
Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

M11 – From 22:00 on Friday 6 until 05:00 on Saturday 7 December, the M11 will be closed northbound for overnight Highways England maintenance at the junction of the A406 (North Circular Road) eastbound at the Charlie Browns Interchange. Traffic will be diverted via the A406 eastbound to Redbridge Roundabout (A12) to return to the A406 westbound onto the M11 northbound on-slip.  

Hammersmith & Fulham – From 05:00 until 21:00 on Saturday 7 December, King Street will be closed westbound at the junction of Queen Caroline Street. This is due to the Winter Market.  

Wandsworth – From 07:00 on Saturday 7 until 19:00 on Sunday 8 December, there will be a single alternate lane working under temporary traffic signal control on Trinity Road at the junction of Wandle Road. This is due to utility works.

Lambeth – from Saturday 7 until Sunday 8 December, there will be temporary traffic lights on Waterloo Road at the junction of Baylis Road. This is due to utility works.

City of London – From 08:00 on Saturday 7 until 22:00 on Sunday 8 December, there will be lane restrictions in place on Bishopsgate at the junction of Camomile Street. A lane will be closed southbound on Bishopsgate and eastbound on Wormwood Street & Camomille Street. Left turn is banned from Bishopsgate into Camomille Street. This is due to construction works. Delays are expected.

Westminster – From 12:00 until 14:00 on Saturday 7 December, a group will form up at Marble Arch and march along Park Lane, Piccadilly, Haymarket and conclude at Trafalgar Square. This is for a vigil.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – On Saturday 7 December, there will a football match between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Burnley FC.  Kick off is at 15:00. Expect more pedestrians and traffic in the area before and after the game.
 
Westminster – From 17:00 until 22:00 on Saturday 7 December, the cycle lane will be suspended eastbound on Victoria Embankment at the junction of Waterloo Bridge. This is due to utility works. 

Parliament Square – From 13:00 until 18:00 on Sunday 8 December, a group will form at this location for demonstration. Delays are expected.
  
Islington – From 08:00 on Monday 9 until 16:30 on Friday 13 December, Seven Sisters Road will be closed eastbound at the junction of Hertslet Road. This is due to utility works.

Lambeth – From 10:00 on Monday 9 until 15:00 on Wednesday 11 December, there will be a lane closure southbound on Streatham High Road at the junction of Stanthorpe Road. This is due to utility works.

Kew Bridge – From Thursday 12 December, we will be preparing for Cycleway 9 construction at the junction of Kew Bridge, the A205 Chiswick High Road, and the A315 Kew Bridge Road. Main works will start on Sunday 22 December. Please plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. The following docking stations will be out of service this weekend:
  • Hoxton Station, Hoxton - due to a power outage
  • Cephas Street, Bethnal Green - due to a power outage 
  • Bruton Street, Mayfair & Sea Containers House, Southbank - due to power works
  • Old Quebec Street, Marylebone – due to a crane operation
  • Grant Road East, Clapham – due to utility works
  • Colombo Street, Southwark – due to utility works
