Enjoy a magical retelling of the fairy tale classic The Elves and the Shoemaker with Sandal Sticks Theatre, using storytelling, song and puppetry. Find out what happens when a talented but struggling shoemaker wakes up in the morning to discover that his last piece of felt has been replaced with a wonderful pair of shoes.

Horniman Market Christmas Special
Sunday 15 December, 10am-3pm

Our special Christmas Market will feature lots of extra stalls selling festive foodie treats and gorgeous gifts from artists and makers, as well as our usual range of fantastic independent and local producers. Details of all our regular and special Christmas stallholders are on our website.

Ed Sheeran’s Guitar

Ed Sheeran’s custom-built ‘x’ Martin & Co. acoustic-electric guitar is now on display in the Music Gallery. The guitar was made and customised by C.F. Martin & Co for the singer-songwriter and played during his 2015 North American tour promoting his successful second studio album x (Multiply). It was used for songs such as ‘Photograph’ and ‘One’.

Seasonal opening hours

The Museum is open from 10am to 5.30pm everyday throughout the festive period, except 24 to 26 December when we are closed.

The Gardens will be closed on 25 December only, but please check the website for daily opening and closing times.

From 27 December and into the New Year, the Museum and Gardens are open as usual. Enjoy all our free exhibitions including Meltdown: Visualising the Climate Crisis (pictured), Stages of Making and Turn it Up: On Paradoxes.
